I have 5 D12 and 1 hddvr ird in home all remotes have are the same, 3 of the remotes have a 30-45 second delay before changing channels. Is there any way to change the settings to match the other remotes in home? 2 of them are the d12 recievers and 1 the hddvr?

It isn't a delay with the remotes. You could be experiencing IR interference, which is a very common problem, especially with flat-panel TVs. Both plasma and LCD TVs tend to emit a lot of stray IR light, which can confuse the IR sensor in the receiver. Moving the receiver away from the TV or blocking the light from it, turning down the brightness, or covering the sensor with a piece of electrical tape with just a tiny hole punched in it can all help.

And depending on the hd dvr model, as has been noted in countless threads, these units are just slow to respond to remote control commands. Which model is the dvr?

Hr23
though why is the d12 doing the same?

Like BattleZone said, it could be interference from something else in the room from the tv, to another unit in the same room, any number of things....

Is it taking 30 - 45 seconds for a channel to change after you press the button once? Or are you pressing the button repeatedly during that time?

we are having to repeatively hit buttons to get them to change

Sounds like interference then. Another thing that can cause IR interference is if the room has a lot of sunlight, especially direct sunlight shining on the receiver.

You can tell if the HR23 is receiving the IR commands because the power LED on it should blink with each button press. Try executing a few commands to see if it is working properly. If not, try turning the TV off and press a few more buttons on the remote... keeping an eye on the power LED on the HR23.

If that doesn't do it, check for other sources or interference. Sunlight (as Grentz mentioned) and CFL bulbs are two big ones.

And :welcome_s to DBSTalk!

I know this might seem stupid or simple. But when I got replacement remote, the batteries that came with it ( in new plastic wrap in all. Were so old they were virtually dead causing the same problem. Now I have have seen the stray IR light problem before and I agree it might be yoru problem but it never hurts to check the batteries.
