Weather Channel

Ok, so I log onto D*'s site today, and on the front page is a link to see the new interactive weather channel.

So it says to go to chan 362, and if you don;t want to wait for local on the 8's, then just hit the red button to see all the interactive options now available.

And, when I hit that magic button....absolutely nothing happens!

What's up with that?

Last I heard it only worked on the SD Channel.. No on the HD Channel

How long did you wait? Sometimes, the interactive screens can take a couple of minutes to load (which is why I rarely use it!).

You do have to make sure you select the SD channel. After a minute or so, a pop up will appear showing the options for the Red and Green button. After that appears, you should be able to press the Red button to get a 5 day forecast as shown below. You can add other cities that you are interested in checking periodically. Also, you can view radar maps for different areas of the country.

What I did was deselect "hide SD Duplicates" and then I put the SD channel in my mini-guide. The I reselected Hide SD Duplicates.

Whenever I want to check the local weather I hit the mini-guide and ir gets me to the local forecast.

Why don't they just make it available to the HD version? Seems kind of backwards to me as I also have the SD dupes turned off.

Even with my local cable company (Charter), there is no local weather on the HD channel. Only the SD channel has local weather. So it's not just D*.

Yea, I tried again on the SD channel, and I guess I was too impatient. After about 1-2 mins, the little box popped up and I was able to get into it.

Well, for me it's just redundant. I run my Yahoo weather widget on all my desktops, so the information is always at hand. I do think the interactive features are too laggy!

I understand the Weather Channel is running out HD local weather in a few selected markets. It may only be available in some FiOS markets. Maybe someday....

I have not had any significant issues with the interactive and local on the 8's. If you do (eg no local on the 8's insert pages pages don't seem to be working correctly, and they ARE directly generated in your box) Unplug the box for several minutes then plug back in . This will almost certainly solve your problems.

Cablevison has local on the8's in HD.

I don't have HD from DirecTV but in all the posts I've read DirecTV Interactive only works in standard-definition. Are there ANY HD channels that have DirecTV Interactive features enabled?? (sports? NASCAR?) :confused:

The Masters had HD Interactive services from DTV

Weather Interactive works on my D12 but not my D10 or my R15.. Haven't tried on my DVR though

If the interactive Weather Channel feature only works in SD (and apparently that is the case) then I would expect DTV to have indicated this on their web page. Instead they advertise they offer more HD channels than anyone else and then advertise interactive services as well. The obvious assumption to both current and potential subscribers is that the interactive service is in HD.

NFL Sunday Ticket has had interactive features in HD, as did the special Directv/NBC coverage of the Olympics last summer.

The new ScoreTracker (I think that's what they call it) works on all the HD RSNs and ESPN HD and ESPN News HD.

We have been enjoying the new ScoreGuide feature over here.
As you stated,it works on all of the HD RSN's,ESPN HD and ESPNEWS HD.
It also works on the following sports channels that I've checked out. :)
NFL Network HD
NHL Network HD
Tennis Channel HD
Golf Channel HD
NBA TV HD
Versus HD
Speed HD

In regards interactive features working on Weather Channel HD,I have seen it work one time in the past.
There was severe weather in the area,and the HD channel alerted us to a Tornado Watch with a loud pitch/tone and a pop-up message.
That is the one and only time I have actually seen interactive content on Weather Channel HD.
Interactive works fine on Weather Channel SD for us,with the Local on the 8's.

After much trying to not hide sd duplicates I found the way. Click menu, settings, display, hide sd duplicates and change to show sd duplicates.
