Now that China's in the game, look for cheaper players this holiday season.

I'm very happy with my BluRay player.... hooked up to a SD TV and a HDMI Computer monitor.
Love the attitudes ...
I welcome this news because the more BluRay players that make it into consumer homes, the more BluRay discs will be sold, and hopefully the faster the prices will start dropping on those discs ...

Hitting a sub $200 price point is a sign of mainstream ing this format - which is a good thing.
Likewise, there has been alot of activity in bringing down the BD disks themselves regularly below the $20 threshold, with them now being found in the $14.99 - $17.99 range at various locations.
Having now enjoyed Blu Ray movies for some time, it is indeed welcome to see this become more readily available to the general buying public.

Sorry, but if I could do it I would never buy another product that is sourced from China. I have spent the last two years rebuilding a hurricane destroyed house here in Florida. I am a lucky one in that no Chinese made drywall was used (I think). There are literally THOUSANDS (not an exaggeration, Google "Chinese Drywall") of houses like mine that were rebuilt after hurricanes in Florida and Louisiana that are now rotting away from the insides thanks to Chinese made drywall. The house that I rebuilt has approx. 2200 square feet of travertine tile throughout on the floors, shower surrounds, tub surrounds and backsplash. I priced tile at several places, including Home Depot. They had a very similar travertine to what I used. I asked them where it was sourced from and when they said "China" I said "no thanks" and left. I ended up paying 50 cents per square foot more ($1100 total) for a product sourced from Turkey, but I feel MUCH better, and safer, about the purchase. The Chinese have shown too many times that they couldn't possibly care less about the safety of the products that they are exporting around the world, and I choose not to participate whenever I can. I recently spent 25 minutes going through belts at Penny's until I found one NOT made in China (it was actually made in the US) and bought it. It replaces one that I bought a while back made somewhere in Central America.
I'd heard about the drywall issue and knew of the huge issues with food contamination, but I never thought to be worried about electronics. However, you're right to be concerned Richard. When there's a systemic problem with quality control and government oversight with no safeguards in place to prevent abuse, you never know what you're going to get...

Previously viewed Blu Ray's are already available in most Blockbuster stores. In fact, last week they had a 2 for $25 sale on them.

Imagine though, if they have the track record that they have selling dangerous products to their CUSTOMERS, what are they doing to their EMPLOYEES???? I suspect the life expectancy is fairly low for those working in the drywall plants, baby formula plants, and the (fill in the blank) plants.

And I found out today that the 2 for $25 sale is still going on and might be extended through June (at participating stores, of course).

Amazon is running almost one special a week for the past 5 weeks now...lots of titles in the $12.99 - $14.99 range...
Look for Best Buy and Walmart to start lowering prices in the weeks ahead as well...

I once bought about 20 led lights from china, within a year all were dead. The led lights I bought from american company Cree are still alive and going strong.
In fact almost 10 of the chinese leds died in less then 2 months.
Chinese monitors/tvs have the same issue. Chinese workers are usually worse trained then american, usually have less schooling, and usually work in sweatshops.
Chinese products are crap.

I've been hearing that Walmart will have Magnavox Blu Rays on sale for $130 or so on sale this coming weekend...
This continues the movement that Walmart has chosen recently to "re-tool" themselves in electronics departments nationwide to support HD, Blu Ray, and related products more than ever before.
