Netflix to charge extra for streaming?

I hope it's not true. If true, looks like I'm not streaming Netflix movies any longer. I refuse to pay extra for lower quality, stereo only "B" movies.

If that's true, I will probably drop netflix. I subscribed to it originally because of the streaming and $1/month Blu Ray rental upcharge. They have already increased the BD upcharge, if they start charging for streaming I will probably look for something else.

The streaming is currently free so I still get my money's worth in the DVD rentals. If they start charging for the streaming, the only way I would be interested is if the streaming movies were available at the same time they were released on DVD and in HD. It would also depend on the upcharge, The currently available streaming library would justify $0 in additional fees.

It may also be that this information applies to the much discussed Netflix Streaming Only service.

Currently, it costs Netflix less than $.03/GB to stream, so a 2hr HD movie would cost around $.09 to stream. Licensing costs will raise that number and Netflix is finding that the studios are not in a licensing mood for streaming through Netflix, wanting as much as $4.00 per showing and that's a number that can't work economically.

Whatever the case, streaming video may be the future but there are still a lot of pieces to this puzzle that must fall into place.

Hmm, this is far from a credible source. I'll believe it when I see it, and, as Mr. Flowers pointed out, not many will pay for the current library.
