View Full Version : SWM-8 Setup Question
I'm getting ready to make the switch to a SWM-8 installation. I have all the necessary cable and devices and I'll porbably attempt the change over this weekend. Aside from removing power to the HR23, swapping out the Zinwell 6x8 for the new SWM-8 and making all the appropriate connection changes.... do I need to do anything to the HR23 besides plugging it back in and turning it on? Are there any setup changes that I need to make, and if so, what and how?

Not really. Power up the SWM and then the receivers. The receivers will boot up on the system automatically.

Put extra care in the 'flow' of the power since a crossed connection can ruin the switch or the box.

Well, they could always open up a box of "common sense", before starting the install.

Common sense is not part of a standard install. Custom charges may apply.

They may need to rerun the sat setup on any HR2x's for it to switch to a swm.

Just as a point of reference, none of my R/HR2x boxes needed to have that done. A simple reboot worked fine for all three. The newer HR22 has been on an SWM its whole life and also recognized it when I ran it through the setup/activation procedure.
Anybody know a good source for that common sense stuff? Not much of it in circulation anymore.
Thanks to everyone for your help!
