American Idol is in HD on channel 88 right now for anyone that does not get FOX in HD like me.

Sometimes DirecTV will do this if they are having problems with the delivery of the local.

I have been able to get it for a couple of years. It is no mistake. I think most people get that channel. Someone will correct me if I am wrong. :)

Most people do not get this channel. Ch 88 is a Distant Network Service (DNS) channel for those people without their locals from DirecTV and can't get them OTA either. You request a waiver and if granted they turn it on. Chs 80, 82, 86 and 88 are the four DNS stations for the eastern and central time zones. Not sure why the west coast is getting it.

Not sure why I am....but I'm NOT complaining! It is greyed out in my guide, thus I couldn't just hit record, as it said "you are not authorized to record this program". So, I set a manual recording......ALL GOOD NOW!

That was the point of letting people know its on because its not just on all the time and its in HD.

Yeah when they do this you have to hit record before the program starts or do a manual recording.

shut off for me when lil turned on in may, am getting it right now though, but usually don't.

I figured....but since 88 is of course not in my custom guide, I didn't want to add it, so figured I would wait until it started.....then hit R and realized we have to try a different route :lol::lol:

I have always gotten it and it is even listed on my bill with a $0.00 charge. I also know of several others that have also been getting it for a long time. I was get my local Fox HD.

I was at a friends house in the Cleveland,Ohio DMA(who have D*) not too long ago and they were getting CBSE Channel 380(they only have SD) I coulden't watch it after primetime, but "I get that alot" was on WCBS at the time. Not sure if they always get it or it was because a local affiliate was out somewhere.
