View Full Version : au9 - old HD dish and SWM
Just found out (thanks for the replies) that I can't put a SWM LNB on this older HD dish (the price of being an early adapter I guess). Is there any reason that I can't use a SWM8 switch with it? Install on that would be much easier than upgrading to slimeline 5 dish?
Is there any performance reason to upgrade to slimeline 5? This dish seems to work perfectly fine for HD programming.

Who told you that? The information I have says that the AT-9 is compatible with the SWM8
The OP was talking about replacing his LNB on his AT-9 with a SWM LNB. That can not be done. He can use the external SWM8 with the AT-9 though.
Apples & Oranges.

I'm using a SWM8 multiswitch with an old AT9 5-LNB dish and it works just fine.

The SWM8 will work with any dish that DirecTV has ever made, though of course you'll be limited to whatever orbital locations that dish can see.
