I am currently running 2 HRx receivers through my yamaha receiver to panny plasma per hdmi but I still get the lipsink problems from time to time. Would running component take car of this problem and get the same picture quality? Thanks Michael
Same picture quailtly, I doubt you will see improved "lipsync" as from what I see it's a broadcast problem not a D* retransmission problem.
Try it and see what happens

Check to see if your Yamaha AV Receiver has an audio delay feature. Most new receivers have a circuit that allows you to delay the sound in millisecond increments up to 250 or so. That is 1/4-second.
If it does not have this think about buying a new receiver with this feature. You can also buy optical audio delay boxes that delay the Dolby Digital optical output from a DirecTV receiver to an older AV Receiver.

I'm moving this to the HD DVR forum.

I can pause it for a second and play again which fixes it, would that still be on D's end or broadcast..Thanks Michael
Yes it would. And it is, sort of. If it doesn't fix it, that means the delay is in the signal (maybe--see below). If it does fix it, that means the audio and video have drifted out of sync in your DVR. Most ATSC and DVB tuners are notorious for not tracking presentation time stamps properly, and this can happen.
Constant lipsync issues? Some make the mistake of not using the switcher built into their display as a preswitcher and feeding their AVR with that signal. Instead, they feed the AVR directly. Since most flat-panels have lots of delay, that can cause a permanent lipsync issue similar to that sometimes found in the signal itself. There are two fixes:
1) Feed all sources through the FP first, which has the added benefit of switching audio and video together.
2) Or use a workaround of dialing delay into your AVR. Not enough delay available there? See #1.
But there is no delay in HDMI. If you use the HDMI audio, it will be in sync as long as audio and video exit the DVR in sync. If you use separate audio, same thing. Component, again the same. No delay in any of that.
