Alviso, CA - Tivo proclaims that their product is a "Life-changing TV experience" and their latest Tivo Get-A-Life (TivoGAL) feature exemplifies that motto.
"Tivo has revolutionized TV viewing habits, and really made watching TV enjoyable and easy," said Tivo CEO Kelly Treadwell, "so much so that some of our users are watching too much TV. The TivoGAL feature aims to stop that, and really make a difference in these people's lives."

I do not want my TV telling me what to do, its to record programs not to run your life. Bad feature.

"When the TivoGAL called me lardass, I ripped it from my entertainment center and threw it off my 56th floor balcony, screaming 'you're NOT my mother!'. Unfortunately, I failed to disconnect it and the still-attached wire made the TivoGAL unit swing back into a 55th story balcony, killing the man who lived below me. I sincerely regret killing Mrs. O'Malley's husband." Otto Matick, NYC
Anyone who fell for this TivoGAL spoof, send me your email address. I have some sub-sea level property in Florida I would like to sell to you. :D
Senators Mcain and Lieberman have introduced bill #666 that will mandate the "TivoGal" feature for every TV. "It is our duty to protect our constituants from addicting TV habits" said the senators. Sounding a little confused, Mcain said hours allowed to watch TV will be curtailed six weeks before an election to coincide with campaign finance laws.
The deluxe model of TivoGAL comes with a special Tivo recliner that has arm and leg restraints. When the Tivo has a program it wants you to watch, the chair clamps you in and the remote function is disbled until the end of the show + 2 minutes.
Why would I need that?

I want this feature in my 501.
As soon as I read "will disrupt your home's electrical system for 12 hours" I knew it was a hoax.
My first reaction at that line was that some lawyer was waiting to pounce on the first invalid to be killed because a TiVo shut off their oxygen supply. Then I cam to my senses.
