Been using the HR-23 for a few months and things are mostly great! Chan changes are about 3 seconds, but I do notice the general interface has gotten slower over time(maybe as the HD get filled up? Seemed faster at 95% free vs. 45% free)...but nothing crazy like waiting 10 seconds for a button press. (Maybe 3 or 4sec at most--but rare) I do notice that it's not the remote's fault...When there is a delay, the blue light blinks 2-3 secs after the key press--makes me think the receiver is very busy processing and the button press gets 'sent to the back of the queue'. This also randomly affects the 30sec slip ahead button. Sometimes, I hit it a few times and it delays, then skips to the end of the show! It must have queued up a bunch of 30-sec button presses and when it 'gets around to processing them', it thinks I'm holding down the skip button long enough to skip to the end of the show. Normally, not really a problem....but almost got me during some sporting events!
Now the other issue. I activated parental lock so I could remove all the adult shows from showing up in the search results. Mainly, just to free up a lot of clutter--both guide and searching (try typing in B-I-G...and see what shows up!) So ok, I allowed everything else from G to Unrated and that helped the search results get less clutter and faster. However, sometimes a regular show gets 'blocked title' and I don't know why. I think it's a bug..seems to happen on IFC a lot! It's happened with Unrated and also TV-MA. Yes, I double checked in the system info...everything is green circles except a white circle with the red slash for adult. BTW, I am able to watch the 'blocked title', but obviously no info or anything else.
Fairly minor issues and I really love this HR23! Never a missed recording, never a lockup, never been rebooted except for the auto-reboot during the last 2 SW upgrades (Feb and just yesterday). Temp is 111F at most--usually 106. It's really been rock-solid in my book! (Feb 1 to now)
