Having switched from Time Warner and their primitive HD DVR (dch3416) i must say how blown away i am by the hr22. great interface!

the 3416 crashed constantly, and had hdmi handshake problems too...

Also, the install took awhile, but these guys knew their stuff (Los Angeles, westside)

The picture quality is fantastic, and i love the ability to see my 9 favorite channels and to have closed captions WITHOUT HAVING TO TURN OFF THE BOX FIRST-ARE YOU LISTENING, MOTOROLA???

It works great with my Harmony 670 remote.

How big is the HDD on this unit?
And, if i run an ethernet into the top, and one out the bottom to my xbox 360, will it degrade the internet signal (I use it, in part, for Netflix)

I am also looking forward to being able to set recording via my iphone.

This is a huge step up from TWC.

Nice Job, DTV!

It's the reason I'm leaving cable.

The CableCo's wouldnt know innovation if it came up and bit them in the arse.

Primitive boxes with crappy GUI's. Poor selection. The list goes on.

First off... a hearty welcome!!!

You don'y say which model DVR you have but the hard drives are either 320GB or 500GB. A portion of the hard drive is unavailable to you as it is reserved by DirecTV.

Don't sweat using the ethernet ports. they work just like any other network "switch" if you will. The XBox 360 and Netflix services will work just fine.

Good Luck!

Larry
