Did anyone notice that the short Maltin promo for 1080p (it's on "List", under "Top Movies") looks like it was filmed in especially lo-def 480i?
Hee....
Yeah I noticed this too. Looks like doo doo.

It looks like someone doesn't know what they're doing. Let's see, would that be DirecTV Marketing?
Looks more like a transfer from VHS

I was expecting that promo to be in 1080p/24 and when it played so poorly I thought my receiver or my projector must not support it. The video looked out of sync or something -- like the pixels were vibrating. Then I tried one of the movies, and it was beautiful. You'd think they'd make the promo better than that, wouldn't you?
I would venture that the D* marketing pukes, who have little or no regard
for the subscribers who pay their salaries, thought no one would notice.

Marketing types are notoriously technically ignorant.

Perhaps they wanted to make the video playable from SD receivers as well.
The Maltin Minutes are all SD also, aren't they? I assume they just used the same production equipment.

So maybe they aren't ignorant, just too lazy to produce an SD and HD version?

An HD version would be expensive if all the equipment at that production facility is SD.
Maybe they are like me and don't see the need for an HD version?

Neither ignorant, nor lazy, just cheap?
Now that's something I can relate to.
Of course, when referring to myself, it's "frugal", not "cheap". ;)
