i had to travel about 180 miles last week, and luckily the conditions were just right that i could listen to my local morning news program all the way there.

i was thinking though; most local stations i listen to simulcast on the internet. is it possible to log in to that stream from a web-enabled phone and pipe it into the car's audio system?

i put iphone in the title because i have an ipod that connects directly into my radio and can be controlled by my truck's radio controls; i was wondering if you could connect the iphone to the radio in the same fashion.

my daily drive usually take me up to 90 miles in either direction, and usually on the fringe of the signal for some news/talk stations i listen to and the local ESPN radio station. it would be awesome to have such a setup as i described above.

Speaking from experience, Palm Treos have had that capability for years with various programs but many smartphones can do that with the proper software. Kinoma is probably what you're looking for. It has a media guide that is packed with radio stations from across the country that stream. Pocket Tunes is a great media player, also. I use it almost every day to listen to internet radio stations while at work.

On a side note, Kinoma also has a very good YouTube feature as well as an integrated Orb feature so you can stream media from your home PC. There are Palm and Windows Mobile versions.
