I've asked this before, but I need to ask again as my warranty is about up and Dish is offering to replace my receiver if needed.

Am I the only one that has audio drops on 721 recorded programs? Sometimes it is infrequent, but occasionally it is very frequent. We recorded the first episode of the amazing race and when we went to watch it, we had 1-4 second audio drops often accompanied by visual glitches almost every other minute. I lost count of the times the audio dropped at about 20.

We use the digital out only, so I don't know if the analog audio is ok or not - it might be but who cares the digital should work too then.

Please let me know if you do or if you do NOT ever have this problem with a short reply so I can decide whether or not to go through the hassle of sending in my receiver.

thanks,

Well, I just saw the other thread on this and I'll take my discussion there, I guess. It is evident this is not just my problem, but other are having it too, so now we need to figure out if it is a flaw in the 721 or DISH's fault, I suppose.

Whether it's a flaw in the equipment or service, it's all on the Dish end. Since L1.12 came out, I'm getting semi-frequent problems that, when changing to a different channel, the screen is completely black (except for the channel banner). And, as others have reported, the only way to get the picture back is to switch to another channel, get a picture, then switch back. And my 721 has started doing reboots again, for no reason. What bothers me the most though is watching a recorded program and having those annoying audio drop-outs and picture freezes. I've watched things live, while they were recording, and not seen anything wrong during the live. But, go and watch the recorded show later and whamo, freezes and drop-outs.

A replacement receiver is on it's way now. I hope I have as good a luck as others that the replacement seems to take care of the problem. Funny how that happens. My guess? The 721 just was not ready to be put out on the market. And, frankly, Dish is taking their sweet time fixing the problems.
