This was my old area:

This is how it looks now:

Home theater pc is a Core 2 duo e6400, 4 gigs ram, gtx 260, 1.6 tb hdd. Other pc is an old athlon, it's meant more for business. The crt is a commodore 1702, and connects to a gamecube or a psx.

At a megabuck apiece, your pics are huge (not hugh).

If my media room looked like yours, my gf would divorce me...now go make your bed.

When are you going to post the pictures of your home theater?

PS. Single?

You guys are hilarious. That room is small, and that day was the day I just received the sectional. I had to move alot of stuff around, and it was hell.

Please tell me about the room itself. It has all since then been reorganized.

Btw, it is a Sheldon Sectional, from Lazyboy, $2400.

Way too big and way too crowded for what you say yourself is a small room.
It's your home and you can certainly do what you want with it, but you did ask.

(As an aside, I have a closet stacked full of spare gear and stuff, but I don't
show it off, much less take pictures of it and post them on the Internet.)

You said it was a Sheldon sectional. Do you also have a Leonard chair? :sure:

It looks like you straightened the picture above the tv:nono:

It is a fine looking sofa though! I have a LZBoy. Quite comfortable, I bet a whole couch of LZBoy is even better.

Eh. The sectional actually gives BIGGER SEATING SPACE, and lets me store more stuff in that room.

Look at the earlier picture. The problem with that one was the couch on the right was BLOCKING THE VENT.

Oh, and the computer you see sitting to the right of the htpc, was actually to the far right of that 3 seating couch at the right (That I said to look at above). You don't see the full difference in the first picture.

All of this said, it's not a bad den at all. You have enough room to sit on a couch, or use a computer. Yes, you can't all sit on the floor, or have lots of space to walk around, but everyone can sit on the couch without space problems, it's not a big deal.

I'm afraid I didn't ask for insults. Nor did I ask for completely idiotic, wrong opinions, unless your closet happens to be full of new couches, the latest pc gaming equipment, and large tvs.

Pretty much all of my stuff is the latest greatest gear. Also includes my Iphone 3g, panasonic phones, and hp printer/copier scanner.

The only things that are old is the snes, n64, and the commodore monitor, which I only use because it was one of THE BEST displays from the early 80's and is still in use today!

I'd love to see all of your great equipment. Hell, I'd love to see your main pc run Crysis at highest settings, 1920x1080, at 60 fps.

I wouldn't get mad if you actually had a real comment to make. I also wouldn't have said what I just said had you stopped commenting. But, you continued.

And don't get all upset because I called you out. I know this doesn't look right. I'm still trying to find the right entertainment center that would both hold a computer case and look right for the stuff I use.

But comparing my stuff to closet gear...

Lemme tell ya something, I just got a Acer Aspire One, with 3g service, just because I wanted a netbook. I already have an overpriced Alienware gaming laptop, but I wanted a netbook. I don't have 'closet' gear.

Even if you called the old stuff 'closet gear', maybe you should learn how awesome my old nintendo units, and the commodore monitor is. It was the first device to connect to both a pc, and tv (via composite). It's still used for monitoring devices.

Insult how it looks all you want, but you DO NOT call my stuff closet gear. I'm a nerd who buys everything and anything that is new.

BTW, if your refering also to the old white pc on the floor at the right, that's my old cyrix 233. I'm currently using it as a Smoothwall firewall. It basically uses the entire device, my actual firewall is a wireless access point. Using a dedicated computer as a hardware firewall allows me to turn have a vpn on my network.

Maybe you should read up a bit on why us network guys would have old stuff around.

You can have all the gear you want, but it wouldn't hurt to dust stuff off. The N64 is covered, along with the shelf on the left of pic #1.

Bingo!! That is the reason for all the "funny" comments. I would have at least made the place look presentable before posting pictures for the world to see. The reason that I haven't posted pictures of my total system here is because I haven't had the time to make the place look presentable. Once I make it presentable I will probably post some pix also. Your place looks alot like the 6 bedroom house that I lived in with five other guys (and assorted GF's) back in my post college guys. The rent was cheap, but no one ever cleaned up after themselves.

By the way, I also have a Lazy Boy chair and LOVE it. Nice buy on the furniture. Now... clean the place up and post some more pix (but resize them first).

I got a little too excited, having just gotten the lazyboy. It was pretty damn dusty here that first day.

It was new furniture experience.

And also please don't look at pic 1 and compare it to today. That picture was taken a long ass time ago.

I think one of the main issues is, I have way too much junk that produces heat, and collects dust. I doubt I'd need to run the heater during the winter...

I got more stuff, and I thought of you guys while opening it, so here ya go ;)

I think the big difference with me and you is that you guys are home theater buffs, while I'm really a tech guy who is big into networking. You guys see wires everywhere; I live on wires being everywhere. You guys see mess; I clean up my stuff ona daily basis, I don't see the point in making an area look pretty just to show someone.

In all honesty, what is the point, if you only clean up an area in 5 years, why the hell clean it up just to have people see it? It seems to me like a big ass lie.

It's just me, I take pictures at any point, not when it's clean. I'm honest with people.

Nice. Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps a bit of perspective is in order:

Keeping your home (or room) clean and neat is not about others. It is
about you. It is about self-respect and the personal pride one derives
from keeping a clean, orderly living space, be it a hovel, or a mansion.

It's all about respect...for yourself first, but for others as well. Based on
what you've shown in your too large pictures, and your last comment,
you have neither.

Now run along and clean your room.

All of this is hilarious since you guys bash me because it's not clean when you view it, then you tell me it's about me, and act like I'm a kid who needs to clean my room.

Which is it guys? If we want to talk about appearance, double standards are not good for you either. It's about you, not someone else.

I'm honest. I take pictures when I want to. That doesn't mean I don't clean my room. And I'll be honest with you again. Here is my honesty right here:

G-E-T T-H-E H-E-L-L O-U-T O-F M-Y T-O-P-I-C. GO ANNOY SOMEONE ELSE.

Just because you guys love to watch liars doesn't mean I do. I personally think lying to people is a bad thing.

You see I believe in this strange thing where lying about real life is bad. I personally think you shouldn't lie to a person to the point where they wake up beside you and find you have fake hair, fake eyebrows, fake teeth, etc.

But you guys watch hollywood movies, so what standards do you have? I doubt any of you even know what honesty means.

Zellio

You guys pissed me off with these comments. I'll take a step back and explain in a way thats not dripping in sarcasm and hate...

Humans aren't perfect. Alot of people try to make themselves look it, I try to be honest about how people live. I don't take things to look the best, I take pics whenever I feel like it. If you asked me to take a picture of my room and it was a junkheap, I'd do it.

This is just me. I don't hide flaws. That's a part of humanity. Not everyone keeps their places straight all the time, but not everyone takes pics of it when it isn't like me.

Since this is going no where I am closing this thread. From now on if you want to post pictures, please resize them before posting so that they fit in a typical frame. Any more large pictures like that in the future will be deleted.

Thread closed.
