I don't know who to bitch and moan to. I don't think there's really anything I can do, but here's the dealio.
For a week now, FOX has NOT been in HD. the channel is, and when there is an overlay from the weather or whatever, it's HD. but ALL the shows are 4:3 and SD only. Shows I know for a fact are suppose to be in HD.
Example: i'm recording the NASCAR race. but it's SD. on the HD channel.
Is there anyone I can actually complain to or is it pointless?
Contact your local Fox, sounds like they are sending the signal in sd. Note: I am watching Darlington in HD via Dish and OTA as well as all the prime time programs this past week.

Yes, it's almost certainly an issue with your local affiliate. Mine occasionally has a problem and is forced to switch to SD temporarily. It sounds like your local Fox may have had some equipment issues that have forced them to keep everything on SD recently. Your best bet is to call or email them.

yeah I was pretty sure that was the problem. I just don't think they're going to care much at all if I call them.

At least you would know if that's the problem.

Are you in the Little Rock DMA? If you are you may want to book mark this thread.

Found this on page 301 of the Little Rock thread.
We have lost the STL (studio-transmitter link) somehow. Either antenna got moved in the storms or lightning. No HD OTA until we can get a crew on the tower and determine where the problem is and how to fix. Flipped a backhaul around to get SD to the hill and out over DT.

First off, let me just say thanks for posting that thread, and even more thanks for going through the hassle of searching within it. I really appreciate that.
yes LR is the DMA. But I'm a little confused. This talk is of OTA. Wouldn't this be a different issue for sat feeds? I don't have a clue but my first thought is it would be different.
I'm goig to try to follow that thread, but I'll be honest, I have a tough time with threads that fork to millions of different topics and that is one of them. lol. Maybe i'll take that post you marked and start a new thread. i've been a member there for 8 years but never post anymore.
EDIT: ugh, correction. if they lost the STL it would affect ANY transmission. ok i got it.
Well thankfully the All star race this week is on SPEED which is now HD, and that's the biggest bummer for me about losing HD, its the NASCAR stuff.

You might be surprised at how many DMAs Dish and Direct receive via OTA. I know Dish gets Raleigh OTA (and we're a considerably larger DMA than Little Rock...)
