Look for Dish and DirecTV to drop the channel in 4 days!! If Disney wants to continue to play hardball with Charlie, I'm sure Charlie will have a few curve balls to throw at their direction.

Honestly, I hope Disney does try to strongarm its way into the merger approval process. It will only backfire in Eisner's face.

The funny part of all of this is that Disney World is hosting a sponcering Dish Networks "Team Summit" which is a week long DIsh Network Dealers convension.

I am on Disney's side on this one! GO MOUSE!

I agree with you on the issue of ABC Family but what are your thoughts on 20% price increases the past two years for ESPN? At some point I have to empathize with Charlie's point on this but don't agree with the way he's handling it overall. J

WHat does ESPN raising rates have to do with ABC family? It has been mentioned that DIsh has a long term contract with the Family Channel and that no price increase was coming for the channel.

What do rates have to do with it? Charlie has issues with the company due to MONEY and is cutting two of the channels owned by that company. The reasons Charlie has given were dismissed easily enough because they didn't hold up. I would say that money as well as ill will have a LOT to do with the decision to cut ABC Family.

The point is Scott that while I absolutely disagree with the decision to no longer carry ESPN Classic and ABC Family, I absolutely agree that raising rates by 20% for each of the past two years is downright dirty.

In this issue at least I can disagree with Mr. Ergen for cutting the channels because I believe without a doubt that he's lied to the consumer, his subscribers, and now a court of law, that he's also deleting the channels to help make room for locals which is a waste of bandwidth IMO, and ultimately to play hardball against those he has a problem with. In trying to send a corporate message WE end up on the losing end.

I can also AGREE with Mr. Ergen because for too long certain companies have bent dbs AND cable over with their price gouging tactics. It is my opinion that regulation in some form is needed to not only protect the dbs and cable companies but the consumer as well.

While I consider the two individual issues, money _is_ ,at least in part, at the core of the ABC Family and ESPN Classic deletions. J

I hope Disney works very hard to end the merger! This merger stinks as long as Ergen the Bumbkin is involved.
