My baby was playing with the remote and when I took it back in basically no longer worked. It will turn the TV on and off and the sound up and down and turn the reciever off but that is it. None of the other buttons seem to work.
Any ideas? I have been seeing the batteries are low for about a week, could that be the problem? When the batteries get so low it not let you change the channel until you put in new batteries?
Thanks for any ideas.
does your remote have a toggle/slide switch between TV and PVR/WebTV?
check the sides of the remote

Your baby may have been "smart" enough to change the address on the remote. See page 9 at http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/technology/remote/PlatinumRemoteUserGuide_121716.pdf
on how to synchronize the Remote Address with the Receiver Address.

Have you tried changing the batteries? Have you checked the Infra red signal with a camcorder?

HighPost, keep the Nuclear Launch Codes away from the Baby, I have a feeling Baby would have too much fun with them, at our expense :p
Watch channel 101 for 1 cycle.

Called Dish and it seemed to freak them out also. First thing I did was change the batteries. That did not work. So I called dish. They had me do some stupid things but the remote refused to get off the remote help channel (ironic). The only thing the remote would do is turn the reciever off and on. So the CSR out of frutstation told me to pull my card and then re-insert it.
Well that basically rebooted the 721. When the 721 was back up the remote did not work. As I was talking with the tech I was still hitting buttons and all of a sudden it started working again, about 30-45 seconds after it came back on from the reboot.
Thing that ticked me off was none of the timers fired when it was locked on this remote control channel help. So I missed the NBA finals I had set to record while I was at work. But I had it pick up the reshowing on ESPN in the middle of the night.
So when in doubt, reboot the 721! LOL! Must be Dish CSR's savior.

Also one final note. The Dish CSR had me trying to access the 721 from the box itself. When I would hit menu nothing would happen either. So the box was really jacked up.
So a good lesson. Do not let your babies play with your 721 remote! Should be a warning on the box or something.

I believe there is a way to reset the remote back to factory settings to where the remote address is set back to 1 just as the receiver comes from the factory.
Either that or just press the SAT mode button until the other lights light up then let go then press the 1 button then the # button. You should notice the SAT button light flash 3 times after that and the remote should operate the satellite receiver again.

It turned out to not be a problem with the remote but the 721. 721 got jacked up some how and would only show channel 101. I had 4 timers set for that day and none fired and the 721 had to be rebooted to start taking commands. Because we tried to give it commands from the unit it self and it was none responsive. Only thing it would do is turn off and on.
