While I'm really disappointed in "The Unit" getting axed, I can not say it was not unexpected especially with CBS placing it in the 'death' slot..

Same here. As I pointed out in another thread devoted to the Unit, I really felt like the season finale was written in a way that it wrapped things up nicely if it was the series finale.

Everyone, I think, saw it coming, even if we were holding out hope that by some miracle the show might be saved.

:(

We liked The Unit and will be sad to see it gone. At least things were wrapped up to a point.

Kind of thought the same thing. Molly walking out really did not phase me as being crucial to the continued story. Yes, we will never know if she and Jonas gets back together but I'd rather be left wondering that then wondering if the team makes it out of a hostile situation alive.

I woke up breathless in the middle of the night when I dreamt that Medium was no longer going to air on NBC.

I didn't watch Medium but I've always thought it was a perfect fit for CBS to air with Ghost Whisperer. Add in one more show of similar content, and CBS could create a theme night, similar to the NBC's 1990's Saturday "Thrillogy" (Dark Skies, The Pretender, and The Profiler).

I'm not surprised that Earl is off the schedule, because the show hit some creative valleys the last couple of years and was really only starting to rebound, but it didn't do it fast enough or with enough fanfare to attract the audience it lost. Oh well - just one less half-hour of NBC on my schedule, leaving me with Chuck, Heroes, 30 Rock, The Office, and Southland - a whopping 4 hours. Way to go NBC!

I was hoping that Earl would make the cut -- as unlikely as it seemed. Either way, not surprised.

"Without a Trace" is one of my favorites....crap! Medium is abit of disappointment as the title is misleading, but I enjoyed it anyway.

How could NBC cancel "My Name Is Earl"? :nono2: That is one of the funniest shows on TV. I hope another network picks it up. I need my weekly fix of Catalina.

I'm sad to see The Unit being discharged by CBS, however, it was not a surprise to me. The season finale seemed like a series finale though.

One less show on the season list this fall.

I read elsewhere that Earl and Medium are being shopped to ABC and Fox. Hopefully, one of them will pick up Earl.

Wow what an awesome week thus far. Chuck will be back, Cold Case looks like it will return as well, and if Medium does indeed move to CBS, my NBC viewing will continue to drop. I hate NBC, and in theory would love to boycott the network on their whole forcing this 'going green' crap down viewers thoughts, but I absolutely love Chuck, been watching Medium since day 1 and like it and after wanting to give up on it many times, looks like I won't have to as Earl is a goner. My Name Is Earl was a great show up until last season. The prison thing was so f'n retarded, the first Cops episode was funny, the second one was lame, and it was hit or miss from there on out, the first two seasons of the show were creative and funny. I'd rather see Earl get canceled now, then limp on for a few more years. As for The Unit, I'm surprise it lasted this long, I tried watching it when it first came on. Too much involvement with the wives and not enough blowing things up. After about 6 episodes I gave up on the show due to boredom

The Unit was like it was being written by high schoolers.
Good bye and good riddance.
Flashpoint needs to follow suit.

If the folks who did The Shield could get the good parts of The Unit and move them to FX in a summer slot, then we'd have something.

Shawn Ryan ( The Shield) is taking over as the show runner for the fox show Lie to me. Since he was a exective producer on The Unit, it would be a shock if somebody picked it up without him involved in the show.

A lot of what is on TV today gives that same impression.

That could explain why the season finale ended "To Be Continued".

The Unit certainly drifted with writing, but the fact remains that it was a great show that CBS basically doomed to fail by putting it in a garbage time slot with numerous schedule over runs. Even with a DVR they made it hard to follow. The show was evolving and seemed to be getting back to its roots and blam - canceled. I look at the fall schedule here and there is basically nothing that I'll be watching. Broadcast Network TV is in the toilet because they won't give decent shows a chance to evolve because they don't want to invest in them when they can throw on a cheap reality show instead. I've been turning to TNT and F/X for shows like Leverage (even though I'm pissed they canned Saved) as well as Rescue Me. At least I get a drama! Hell, Star Trek Phase II is producing better TV with virtually no budget and volunteer staff than most of what's on TV now!!! Watch World Enough and Time to see what I mean.

I was a big fan of Earl during its first 2 seasons but stopped watching after that because it just got a bit....too weird for me.

I loved its quirky comedy at times but I think they tended to lean too much on it after awhile

Unit reruns moving to the somewhat obscure MyNetworkTV network, according to the Hollywood Reporter:

MyNet's fall lineup includes the upcoming syndicated run of former CBS drama "The Unit" and NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," along with the syndie versions of ex-NBC game show "Deal or No Deal," Fox's "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader."

I agree with this completely. When they put the show in a time slot that is being bumped back and forth by sports programming and even without the preemptions, Sunday at 10:00PM is the kiss of death anyway. It seems like they wanted an excuse to cancel it. I don't get it though. In a proper and stable timeslot, it would have performed reasonably well I think. Sigh... who understands network programmers.

Actually, FOX is much worse then CBS. After all, The Unit had four seasons. It's not like they pulled it before it had a chance to develop a loyal audiance.

I hope someone (like Fox or CBS) announces soon who will be picking up EARL this fall. It's one of my favorite shows and I want it to continue. I thought it got pretty good ratings for NBC. I was surprised they dropped it; I hope someone picks it up.

TBS is looking into a limited order....

http://news-briefs.ew.com/2009/06/my-name-is-earl-may-be-saved-by-tbs.html

My Name Is Earl is in early negotiations to be picked up by basic cable network TBS, weeks after broadcast network NBC cancelled the Emmy-winning series after four seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. TBS already has a deal in place to air syndicated reruns of Earl starting this fall, but it is still uncertain if a deal for 13 new episodes will pan out, in part because it's unclear whether the show's stars would return under what would most likely have to be a far-tighter budget.

Talk about lousy karma.

Despite reports that TBS was on the verge of rescuing My Name is Earl from NBC's scrap heap, a spokesperson for Twentieth Century Fox Television confirms that the Emmy-winning comedy is officially dead.

If CBS plays their cards right....and with the cliffhanger "to be continued" ending to Medium...it could prove to be a winner for them.
