I am looking to buy another HD DVR and found a HR22 for $115 on Craigslist. I currently have a HR21-100 but hate the speed of the menus. It is slow at doing everything through the menu and DVR functions. Is the HR23 plagued by the slow response times also? I would buy the HR22 instead of a new HR23. I am looking for something with a faster menu than the HR21-100.
I did buy a HR21-700 that I plan on hooking up also and wonder if it will be faster than the HR21-100. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure that anyone can answer that for you. It's true that there have been a lot of reports about slow HR22-100s. It's also true that there are an awful lot of new HR22-100s out there, they seem to be the most common new box right now. So it's hard to say if any receiver is faster than any other.
Not only that, but there are some HR22-100 owners who say there's nothing wrong with their DVRs, as well as HR21-700 and other DVRs that they claim are slow.
The only thing I can tell you for certain is that our friends at DIRECTV are really looking at the speed issues and they want to make all the receivers faster.
Most people agree that the current release for HR20-700 makes it a very fast receiver indeed but I can't tell you if those changes are going to migrate over to the other models. You'd think they would, though...

Mailman I can tell you this, both my HR20-100 and my HR21-100 run at about the same "speed" when it comes to guide navigation and button response. So in my case everything is good, but you might have the exact opposite happen to you so you will probably end up getting a lot of "YMMV" responses to this.

Mailman, I have a HR21-700 and a HR22-100 both with the same firmware and they both are about the same speed. Basically all the recievers are computers, the longer you keep them on the slower they get. Seems to me that when you turn them on they are faster but as time goes on they get a little slower. But i'm glad to hear that D* is working on the problem...
I have a HR20-100 and it runs pretty fast usually. I was helping a friend out with his HR21 the other day and I was about to pull my hair out it was so slow.
