View Full Version : What DBS toys *DID* Santa bring you this Christmas?
Nothing for me this year as far as I know but there is a rather large present under the tree. Hmm...DirecTivo maybe?
I might get a 501 for myself in a few weeks, but my new toy will be my new DVD player this Christmas.
Steve
five DirecTiVos
four hundred feet Rg-6
three multiswitches
two reaimed dishes
and a brand new DirecTV account.

I would like a Replay 4000.
Budget allows a replay of thats a wonderful life:(
Sony KP51HW40 HDTV
Dish 6000 with 8vsb tuner
18" Satellite Dish
SW-64
B&W center channel speaker
2 Tech Craft SF-50 audio stands
And I was able to convince Santa to come early!
Charlie better give me continuation of all three of my RSN's or there will be a lump of coal in a stocking that bears the name "Charlie" !!!!!
Last I heard the 721 will be SERIOUSLY late. Someone told me spring:( no verification on that date......
Better late than buggy!
My wife just delivered twin boys on Wednesday the 19th, so rumor has it that I won't be getting ANY new DBS toys this Christmas. The only 501 I'm gonna see for a while is 5:01 a.m. when I'm up for the eighteenth nighttime feeding!
Just lumps of coal! (for long term original subscribers!)
Merry Christmas to all happy posters!
Congrats Jeff, Me and Jen hope to be able to have children too, once she looses the weight! You are very lucky to have twins!
Just wait....
After the first three years (which I don't remember) it gets better.
You have to have a PVR for the kids because of all the Disney & Nick channels, plus you can watch the other stuff you missed during the feedings.
My twins are 14 now and are PVR junkies. They always take the remote away from dad, because thay can "work it better".
Thanks for the encouragement! We already have 8 and 10 year old daughters who are both clearly approaching the "know-it-all" stage. I am regularly reminded on how to work the remote control already.
Now I'm hoping everyone who tells me that boys are much easier to raise is correct. This should be fun.
Jeff,
I have a 13 year old daughter and a 16 year old son. My son has been much easier to raise. My daughter is already driving me nuts!
Mine are girls. Now I know why my hair turned gray!
One is marching next week in the Rose Bowl Parade with her high school. It only cost me $1300.00 + to get her there.
Anybody want to buy some candy?
Changed the topic header.
So what did everyone get this year?
Ill know in another 5 hours ;)
Well, heres what I got so far over $100 is gift cards for Media Play, Wal-Mart/Sams Club to spend on DVDs, an American Flag Mouse pad, DVD Player and Dust Off compressed air cleaner (if you only knew how dusty this room gets with 2 complete computer sysems and a bedromm HT setup)

1)I got the U2 DVD Live from Boston (The 2nd DVD in the set features different camera angles, including Directorcam where you are in the control studio. It gets kinda irritating seeing people in the CS acting silly and going "Cmon Bono, show them what you got...Oh yeah.....youre the man". The other two views are the view from the concert DVD 1 and an angle from the front, but the music is hard to hear, but then its like that at Conseco Fieldhouse, so its nothing new. The concert footage is from the Fleet Centre in Boston) and very impressed indeed. The 2nd DVD also includes video samples from Sydney, Australia; Mexico City, Mexico; Dublin, Ireland; Toronto. The first DVD is the same concert that was shown on VH-1 and DirecTV's Channel 103 Freeview.
2)I got a Quicken Deluxe
3)A DirecTivo for another room. YES!!!!
However, my family got a wonderful Christmas present from me: Originally I was planning on flying to NYC for business on the 28th of December and be gone for 5 days. I have changed my mind and decided to stay home. Family always is more important than work. I am just afraid that something bad will happen during the time I was gonna be gone.
I made a killing on DVD's this year, in addition to all the new toys that I listed above.
The Sopranos Season 2 box set
Twin Peaks Season 1 box set
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (remastered)
Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park III
Traffic
Castaway
A Knights Tale
Shrek (actually, I bought this one for my wife)
Lots of cool stuff to watch on my new widescreen tv! Yea!
Forgot to add this: Max Payne for the Playstation 2. If you like action games, you have got to get this game (as well as Grand Theft Auto for the Playstation 2). Also have WWF Smackdown 2 and Simpsons Road Rage for the Playstation 2.
My final tally is $175 in gift cards for various stores that will on be spent on DVDs and possibably a pack of blank CD-Rs since Im running low. :)
Steve
Wow! Looks like everyone got some great gifts. No DBS stuff for me but some cool toys for the computer and a clock that hangs on the wall that receives a time hack directly from the Colorado atomic clock.
