Started looking around at various speaker/clock radio docks for my iPhone... and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

I don't want to spend $8000 on one!

Sound quality is important, but I also want the clock radio features. I see some that are just speaker/charger docks so I've discounted those.. I don't care if it has a CD player or not, as I'd be playing the songs from my iPhone anyway.

The front-runner at the moment is a Sony dock I saw yesterday at Best Buy (Apple store also has it I believe) for about $99... and today/tomorrow this particular model looks to be on sale for Memorial Day at $20 off at Best Buy, so I'm thinking if I decide that is the one to get I might want to jump on it this weekend.

Any thoughts?

I've had this Sony one (http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/26/sony-squirts-out-new-ipod-dock-bluetooth-gear/) for a while and love it. For what it is and the price, the sound quality is awesome.

I like that Sony one, I think the Klipsch one Best Buy carries sounds a tad bit better, but it doesn't support charging while docked. Also Klipsch one doesn't make the iPhone/iPod stick out like a sore thumb, it looks more natural. However the granddaddy of them all is this (http://store.apple.com/us/product/TN981ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA1NA&mco=MjE0NzA3NA&p=1&s=topSellers) bad boy from what I've heard. This thing sounds AWESOME. It's expensive, heavy as hell and looks like a giant football (and has no clock radio functionality). but from the sound produced it is second to none. Last weekend I took my iPhone and went from store to store in three of the four major malls in the area (and every FYE, WalMart and Target in the path) and played the same song in every iPod speaker dock I could find. The B&W Zeppelin simply just blew them all away. If this model is still around in another 6-8 months, I'm probably going to cash in my rewards points on my Visa credit card and get it for free.

I have a klipsch dock for my 60 GB ipod, and I love it. I've never been let down by the brand either, so I'd see if I could find one by that works for your needs if you can.

Personally I'd wait until after firmware 3.0 is released.

You'll see a ton of new accessories hit the market. This will include a slew of new speaker docks that will also incloporate stereo bluetooth connection to name just 1 aspect of the released coding.

That's one of the ones I was testing out yesterday.. and I believe it is the one that is on sale at Best Buy for $79.99 today and tomorrow online. Only downside is that I think just the black version is on sale, and I have a white iPhone so was wanting to get the white version to match.

There was one Logitech one that sounded nice, but it didn't have a radio and didn't let you set an alarm using iPhone songs, just a buzzer.

They had other more expensive ones too, but I was hoping to stick to $100 or less and get the best one I could.

I hadn't thought about that... I remember reading one of the new features in 3.0 too was more interactivity with 3rd party accessories, so that there could be apps on the phone that interface with the accessory.

Has a cool snooze feature where you just wave your hand over it. No button to push/try to find!

I like Logitech products. Good bang for the buck.

They also make a "premium" model.

I have the same one and it is great. My only complaint is that it has no bass.

I decided to wait on the sale, since I kind of wanted the white model Sony to match my white iPhone if possible...

Truth be told, there was a Logitech that sounded better to me in the store (tested with my iPhone) than the Sony... but the in-store Logitech was the one that didn't have the radio features.

I'd like to see one of the Logitech models that includes radio features in a store to try it out.
