View Full Version : Cannot get Tuner 2 active (r15-500)

I am trying to self-install a reconditioned R15-500 DVR receiver moving from an ancient Tivo unit. The dish setup has not changed, just putting in a new box.

I have a 3 LNB dish with some kind of "multi-switch" (this is what the customer service rep told me).

I have two coax cables, BOTH of which seem to be carrying a signal. If I put either one into Tuner 1, I get an 80+ signal and all my channels, etc.

When I put either of these active cables into Tuner 2, I get NO SIGNAL at all.

The diagnostic says "Tuner 2: OK" - but no signal enters this tuner from a live cable.

I've tried resetting and reconfiguring 10 times with no luck.

Any ideas are much appreciated and thanks to this Forum!

1-800-531-5000 sounds like a bad reconditioned receiver.

Are you sure it's not a SWM (Single Wire Multiswich) install. If so, I believe you use only one cable connected to Tuner 1.

leave both wires hooked up and do a autodetect, if that doesn't work do a 'reset everything' from the menu You will have to re-run sat setup, and you will lose any recordings on the hard drive, but it will cause it to re-auto detect the 2nd line.

R15s are not compatible with SWM.

r15 are compatable if they have the new solfware.

No they are not SWM compatible and NEVER will. Hardware does NOT support it. Let's not spread unfounded rumors/ :nono2:

sounds like software issue - thinks its set to single tuner. reset everything should fix like mentioned.
