Please help, I have an HR20-700 Direct TV DVR receiver. I just went to adjust my remote settings from IR to RF. Before even entering any numbers though I changed my mind and hit done. Now the remote won't work. When I hit menu on the receiver itself, the Menu pops up. But the down button on my receiver won't work. I have actually seen this very problem once before. So now I cannot dig down into the menu to reset my remote settings. This remote now no longer works on this receiver. None of the remotes in my house work any longer on this receiver. I have reset it twice also.

I did this with an RC24 remote. I also have here another RC24 remote, and RC32 remote and an RC64R remote. None work now with this receiver. I am hoping there is a way to save the data on this receiver basically. The Direct TV tech guy is scheduled to come on June 3rd and I don't want to wait a week and a half to watch TV because he is going to take one look at this and say that the box is dead and switch it out for me.

Please help me fix this guys. You are all my only hope. I have a harmony logitech H688 that I use for my other electronics but not this receiver. It works on my other boxes which are all on IR I should add. Something tells me that I am screwed but maybe you guys can fix this.

Thanks in advance for any and all help on this one. If my box can't be fixed, can I save the data?

You need to put the RC64R remote into RF mode to regain control.

Press & hold Mute & Select, wait for the light to flash twice

Enter 961 on the remote, then press Chan Up

Enter the last 6 digits of the RID number (can be found under the access card door), then press select

Press select a second time

The RC64R should now control the receiver, you can then use the remote to revert to IR if you want.

Wow, why did I even waste an evening by calling Direct TV. How did the woman on the phone not know this. Thank you so much!!!! I am fixed!!!
