Can you still purchase a used TiVo receiver and use that?

I just got an HD TV in antcipation of next Fall's football season but I HATE the DirecTV receiver - it's clunky, and the fast forwarding feature is a pain, and just overall it's far inferior to the old school Tivo box my parents had. Does anybody know if I can get a Tivo brand HD receiver and use it with the current DTV service? and do you have any idea where to track one down outside of eBay?

I don't know where you'd find one. At any rate, you could use an old TiVo for SD programming and over-the-air HD programming (most likely, no guarantees after June 12) but not for DIRECTV's HD programming. That uses a compression technology that the old TiVo doesn't support.

No HD football will be shown (unless it's on your OTA antenna) on the HD Tivo HR10-250.
