Need help with setting up a basement. I'm finishing the basement and working on the framing now. Need to run wiring to setup 4-5 TV's off of 2 or 3 receivers. I know back feeds don't work on HD. Any suggestions? Most likely be running all HD if possible.

Thanks.

There are HDMI splitters you can get at monoprice.com and other places, it seems that may help you. Run one HDMI cable to a splitter then run HDMI to other rooms in the house.

You could get a straight HD feed to 4 tv's (2 HD rcvrs) or 6 tv's (3 HD rcvrs) by using both the HDMI and component outputs. The component outputs will also need a stereo RCA cable for the audio feed. If you need some good (& cheap) cables, try monoprice.com

I vote for the very simple approach of using the HDMI and component off each receiver so that one receiver can drive 2 TV's in HD (and one more TV with SVideo)

what is the limit on distance without signal loss for running HDMI or Comp?

also, if i'm running an hd signal can i split the signal to an HDTV via HDMI and a SDTV via comp or will the older tv not read the signal.

thanks.

You probably won't be able to run the component output to an SDTV as the signal may be 720p or 1080i and won't be recognized. You can run the svideo or composite (yellow) to an SD TV and the HDMI and Component to an HDTV. The svideo and composite will still be 16:9 and will be squished on an SDTV.

FYI I have successfully run HDMI over 65' (50' coupled with a 15') with no amplifier and 1080P looks great. Component is running to a smaller TV that only supports 720P anyway. $5 a month adds up and we don't watch both TVs simultaneously anyway

You can run component to an SDTV if you set output to 480i and maybe p if the TV allows. But then, of course you lose resolution on the HDTV too. And The SVideo and composite is squished, but I don't mind it so much

Not true. All of the outputs are hot on the HRxx receivers. I am running 2 tvs in HD off of my HR20 (HDMI and Component). The composite output runs into a VCR and out to a video distribution to 10 tvs. All can run simultaneously (includes the 2 previously mentioned HD). If there is any signal loss, I haven't noticed, but it is outweighed by the ability to watch ten tvs at the same time (only comes up if we're having a party or something like that)...

I am a big believer in maximizing the use of all those outputs. My Component run is approximately 60' and I used mini RG59 cables that I made myself - they were easier to fish through the wall than larger diameter cables, especially considering the need for 5 of them.

That isn't what he was saying, he was saying you can't run the 720 or 1080 component to an SDTV - It's not that it isn't hot, it's that the TV will show a weird pattern. I've run into just that situation and just switched to the Svideo output instead.

One other small problem may arise if you are using the HDMI to one tv and component to another. If you are trying to view copy protected material (HBO, PPV, etc) on the component connected tv you must either have the HDMI TV turned on or unplug the HDMI cable. If you do not you will recieve the copy protected message instead.
