View Full Version : Would you buy out-of-market RSN's on an a la carte basis if available?

I sent an e-mail to D* suggesting that when ESPNU is dropped from the Sports Pack they will lose subscribers to that package. I also threw out the idea of them offering out-of-market RSN's @ $2.00/month per channel for those not willing to continue paying $12.99/month for a diluted Sports Pack. I would think that there are many displaced fans out there who would want to keep up with their former hometown team, college team, etc. and would be willing to pay a modest monthly fee to do so. Agree/disagree?

I might be willing to consider it.

YES! I'm only interested in a couple of them but I have to pay for all of them just to get the few I want.

nope

I have Premier, so it won't affect me anyway

I wouldn't be interested. I currently subscribe to SportsPack, but I don't watch ESPNU all that much.

I think the Sports pack is overrated at $12.99. Especially when so many of the FoxSports or Comcast sports channels show the same thing all day until a sporting event is on, then it's blacked out (if you don't have the appropriate MLBEI, CenterICE, or NBA package)

I think the sports pack is only $5.00 on Dish, I would probably spend an extra $5 a month (tops) for the sports pack just so i can see "You are unauthorized to view this channel"

I would be interested. The only reason I keep sports pack is for college football and basketball. If I could get FSN West and Prime Ticket, I would do it in a heart beat.

Maybe during college basketball season depending on how they are priced. I'd probably look at SNY, Altitude and a west coast FSN that carries a lot of Pac-10.

I'll probably still subscribe to the sportspack from January-mid March.

I would buy SNY for Mets and Jets news, but probably none of the others.

The question might also be... would the controlling parties let you?

I believe the OP's query included “if available.”

And, yes, I would consider purchasing just one RSN (YES) if it was available on that basis. Of course I would still have to subsribe to MLB EI to watch the Yankees games.

I am not sure it'd work, by the time you pay for 1 or 2 RSN's you'd be at at least $4. At that point if you have one or 2 other premiums you're almost at the $10 cost right? I will probably be adding the Sports Pack back in the fall for College Football, that's when I felt I got the best use out of it. By the time I add YES, FSN West/PT, and possibly one or 2 other channels it wouldn't make sense for me.....just my 2 cents...

I'd sign on in a minute. I have the Sportspack for FSN Pittsburgh, and truly, I don't watch any other channels on Sportspack. Paying 2$ month would be nicer than the $12 I'm currently paying for this one channel. I know that's not gonna happen .... but it's nice to think about.

If I could get MSG HD, MSG+ HD, and YES HD, then I'd buy it. Those are the only RSNs I really watch for NY Yankees and NY Rangers games.

Sure, why not if it's 13 for all of them 1 or two should be cheap..... I don't need them all, does this include ESPNU and NBA TV?

I agree with Pirate fan..I only watch FSN-Pitts, I dont care about the rest. Ala-cart would be great....

RSN's are worthless on a national level. They all show the same thing and any pro games that are on are blacked out 99% of the time.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!

FSN SW is my "local" rsn but they don't show the SEC basketball and baseball FSN games while FSN South does
I've also sent them an e-mail suggesting this
perhaps if enough people do they'll do this

Probably not with the blackouts. As someone already mentioned, I might consider it for the college football and basketball, but that's about it.

Fortunately with the new SEC deal with ESPN, you won't have to worry much about this anymore.

In past years, it wouldn't have done you any good for basketball. The FSN South/Sun Sports games were blacked out and you had to have Full Court to watch them. Baseball is usually in the clear.

(I'm an Arkansas alum now living in Iowa, so I know all about SEC blackouts!)

I would pay $20.00 a month for 1 rsn IF i could get every professional game. so from april to october i would pay $20.00 a month for NESN HD so i could watch every red sox game, then from october to april i would pay $20.00 a month for comcast sports new england so i could watch every celtics game.

Probably not. I do not watch any particular RSN at any given time. More like I pick what is on them when I want to watch it. That includes wild live games, highlight shows, pre and post game shows, etc.

I would buy MGS+ for the Isles, but MSG would never allow it. Therefore, NHLCI for me.
