As a further indication of that NBCU is focusing on it's cable channels, from TV by the Numbers (http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/06/05/burn-notice-premiere-scores-six-million-out-performs-the-listener-royal-pains-draws-56-million/20176): A strong showing for the season 3 premiere of Burn Notice and the series premiere of Royal Pains, especially given the NBA Finals competition. Burn Notice outdid NBC’s The Listener in adults 18-49 and viewers! We have enjoyed "Burn Notice" to date and the pilot of "Royal Pains" was excellent.

Maybe NBCU has figured out its best long term option.

Also a Burn Notice fan here. I'll have to check out Royal Pains. Then again, being a King, I really hate to hear about Royal Pains. ;)

I've been watching Burn Notice from the beginning and was very glad it was back this last week!

On Thursday I recorded The Listener, Burn Notice and Royal Pains. I haven't watched Royal Pains, watched 10 minutes of The Listener and deleted it. Burn Notice was watched and enjoyed. :)

NBC really has lost their way, but if they keep putting entertaining programs on their cable channels I won't mind.

...watched 10 minutes of The Listener and deleted it.We watched both episodes of "The Listener" and that's time we both wished we had back.:nono:

I think you'll like "Royal Pains."

Like Drew, I am a Burn Notice lifer. Glad it's finally back and enjoyed the season premiere.

Unlike Drew, I have already watched Royal Pains and found it good enough to add a SL.

More and more of my viewing is coming from USA with Monk, Burn Notice, L&O CI and now Royal Pains. I guess I will have to check out some of the other shows they have.

Love Burn Notice... the family had gone out that night and I didn't go (had to be at work early) so i watched Royal Pains. Really enjoyed it. A great combination of medical drama, humor, and uh, assets. Very much like Burn Notice!

You gotta like any show with Bruce Campbell, and Burn Notice is surprisingly good considering it's very formulaic. The humor is what makes the show.

The "romantic" twist, the chain smoking mother, the alchie side kick, the nice car, the silly car chases. I watched last week's installment last night and realized it's "The A-Team" reinvented with a few changes.

Good stuff.

I haven't watched the new episode of Burn Notice yet, but really enjoy the show. I also have Royal Pains in my playlist to give it a try.

I "watched" both episodes of The Listener - heavy use of skip/FFWD. Interesting concept but poorly executed. Deleted the series link.

I finally watched Royal Pains and was very happily surprised at how much I liked it. The characters all hit the right "note" for me, it seemed realistic (well, except for the PA showing up with a tricked-out SUV), and it was a lot of fun. Series Link is set!

hahaha, i've been to the hamptons, and the tricked out medical SUV is something i've never seen...but i mean i wouldn't put it past them. Thats one of the things i really liked about Royal Pains..obviously there is some embellishment with some of the hamptons stuff, but they didn't stray too far from reality...thats going to make for a very interesting show.

As a Long Islander I was most happy with how they filmed the Montauk Lighthouse (a beautiful shot!) and they even made the LIE - the Long Island Expressway - look good! That's a major feat! :p

I've been watching Burn Notice from the beginning too, love the show. I love the insight you get to being a spy.

I've been recording The Listener and haven't watched any episodes. After reading what some of you thought about it I might just kill the SL and never even start.

I have watched Burn notice from the start... and Royal Pains is really good too...

The listener on the other hand... didn't even look like something I would want to watch...

In Plain Site is another USA show that I have been enjoying. Great character interactions. I set a timer for Royal Pains tonight.

in the previews, Royal Pains looked a bit too much like Psych with a doctor, so I skipped it. Maybe I'll pull it off VOD. Thanks for the heads-up guys.

I have not watched last night's episode yet, but even my husband, who is an ER charge nurse, liked the first episode. He liked it even better at the end after they clarified some things that he felt would NEVER have happened in a real life ER.

I've watched Burn Notice from the beginning and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am a big Bruce Campbell fan and think they found the perfect part for him.

I watched the first two episodes of Royal Pains and thought it was pretty good. I think they tried to rush stuff a little in the premiere (even with it being 90 minutes), but it still worked out well.

In Plain Sight is another I watch and have been enjoying as well...

I like In Plain Sight as well and think the new plot-line with the new family member could turn out to be pretty good. I would like to see more of Mary's boyfriend. I enjoy him.

add another In Plain Sight fan here. Along With Burn Notice, Royal Pains, Monk and Psyche (July?) USA has become our summer goto network.

The Listener has made my top? ten list of worst shows ever. The writers? didn't bother to learn the difference between precognition and telepathy and have a most uninteresting character with these abilities.

I must've missed something... What is this The Listener show people are talking about? Was this a USA show. I don't remember seeing any promos for it.

- MergNo it is NBC buying a Canadian show on the cheap. The premise had potential. Now if they had just hired writers, a director, and actors....:sure:

Thought's on last nights shows? Another solid Burn Notice Ep...show is just so consistently good...

And I'm really getting into Royal Pains now...liked that there was more divya this episode too...plus i like that its not going to be a straight on romance between hank and jill...their jobs certainly seem like they will clash more often than not...

Just started watching Burn notice a couple of weeks back and am hooked. Looking forward to watch some of the episodes from seasons past thanks to today's marathon.

Watched the first episode of 'Royal Pains' last night through Direct on Demand and love it! If all goes according to plan, I'm hoping to get the wife to sit down one of these evenings and watch and episode with me as I can already see it moving to the top of our prioritizer.

I watched a couple of episodes of Royal Pains during the July 5th marathon and was impressed. The show looked expensive with great visuals of the Hamptons and all the huge mansions. Scripts were decent with good performances from the Mark Feuerstein and Paulo Costanzo. Some of the medical stuff seemed a bit silly, but that was easily overlooked.

Wife and I liked Royal Pain. I used to watch Burn Notice up until they started blocking some of the local roads in my area for filming. Make traffic a pain in the rear. But wasnt too bad of a show.

I want to see that new one on TNT DarkBlue. Looks promising.

Does Jay Leno speak Italian?

According to a report in the NY Post (http://www.nypost.com/seven/07102009/business/plenty_of_buzz_on_ge_178558.htm) Vivendi may make another run at taking over NBCU from GE in the next year or two. Vivendi owns 20% of NBCU and has the right once a year to resell the entire chuck back to GE. But if GE doesn't have the cash to buy out Vivendi, it could put the entire division in play.

For a couple of years now, GE's top management has resisted large shareholder pressure to sell NBCU which worked out well this past year as it was the lone profit center growth point. It will be interesting to watch.

If Leno's new show works, from a PR standpoint NBCU could still look good generally. If it's an experiment that fails, the "in the know" expert analysts that before the crash raved about how GE Capital was such a strong part of GE will pile on the criticism that GE hasn't sold NBCU to get more cash for it's "core" business, whatever that is.

In the meantime, GE has garnered a pile of our TARP money without suffering the government control worries through some loopholes and "interpretations" in its favor.

Zucker has admitted as much, but the NBC network feels more and more like a mid-range cable channel and stripping in Leno will only heighten the impression. Importing shows from the UK (Merlin is an okay show, but can't NBC afford to develop it's own programming?) occasionally filling in with programming from it's other cable channels, the endless morning news/talk block, etc, etc. It all gives off a cheap cable vibe.
