I'm currently a DISH Network subscriber. I'm thinking a switching to Directv, but noticed NickJr is not in the programming lineup. Any ideas why? This might be a show-stopper for me.

There is no NickJr on Dish eaither...

I believe Nick Jr is a programming block that airs on Nick in the mornings from 8am til noon.

That's correct. Nick airs 3 types of programming all on a single channel:
Nick Jr. in the mornings and during the day, designed for kids who aren't in school yet.
Nickelodeon in the afternoons with programming for school aged kids.
Nick-at-Nite in the evenings and overnight. This used to be mostly classic TV shows, but now it's mostly reruns of recent series like you'd find on other networks.

What might sway your family is PBS Kids, though. It is a wonderful channel for small children. All PBS shows like Arthur, Dragon Tales, etc. and best of all - NO COMMERCIALS! PBS Kids is availble on Directv and not on Dish.

Interesting. According to dishnetwork.com, I don't get NickJr, but I could swer that in the APG, NickJr is listed. Hmmm...

I did see that D* has PBS Kids and DiscoveryKids!

Nick Jr is not a channel, as said above it is a block of programming on Nickelodeon that all relates to a common age. Same situation as Noggin, in the evening they brand it as 'The N' since the programming is targeted toward older kids.

DirecTV has PBS Kids exclusively, while DISH Network has Nick GAS exclusively. Neither have Nicktoons TV.
