View Full Version : Couldn't add Showtime via Directv.com???
Tried to add Showtime via D* website and it let me get to the page to add premium programming, then select what package I wanted (Showtime) and then it let me "add" it and then let me select the "are you sure" and then at that point it says that I need to check my equipment and or programming packages or call 800-DIRECTV.
I hate calling as it takes forever and a day when you talk to somebody. However, this time was pleasant. I got an automated voice saying "I have your phone as ....., is that the one on your account" to which I said yes and then she asked "what do you want to do?" to which I said "add Showtime". The voice came back and said, "you want to add SHowtime, correct?". I said yes and the voice said "thank you". Grand total of 2 minutes and 38 seconds. So, the key is talk to a computer rather than a person :)
Anyway, the reason for my thread. Any idea why I ran into problems adding it online?
FYI....My programming and Equipment:
I have had the Premier package for some time now and recently (about 6 months ago) I "downgraded" to the package just below it (Premier without movie channels I think it is called Choice XTRA HD DVR).
My equipment is the HR20 and the R15.

Sorry, no clue why you had problems adding it online, unless because you had Premier for such a long time, maybe you fall into the same category as me because I called to add Showtime today ( since I have a pretty old pkg as well - TC Plus) and I knew from past experience that I had to have a CS Rep add it- otherwise next thing you know it would tell you that you had to subscribe to one of the current packages ( which for me happens to be $3.00 more/ month ) in order to add a movie channel.
Add it by phone. Its easy and you don't need to change packages like they will sometimes force you to online.
Jazzmo....maybe you didn't understand my thread? I did in fact add it via phone. And no, it doesn't require you to change packages online.
I have tried to add Showtime over the last couple of weeks online, and always get an error. I did add HBO for True Blood, and no problem with it. But I still have not gotten Showtime to work.
I should just call and get it added, but I have been to lazy to bother..
2:38 is all it took. The key is to not go to a CSR but use the automatic gal :)

I added HBO via the automated system a few weeks ago and it went as smoothly. Of course, dropping a premium is a different matter.

Wouldn't let me add showtime online either. Guess I'll wait til BB starts up anyway.

Weird because I just looked at my account on the D* website and it lists SHOWTIME at $0.00 and I've never sub'd to SHOWTIME. Guess I better go see if it's turned on here.

Did your account recently have an anniversary? It showed up on my account that way (and later I got an email telling me about it). Directv often "rewards faithful customers" that way. The duration of the freebie varies and you don't need to cancel at the end of the free period, as it will go away by itself.

Did you try calling them? :D

I tried to add SportsPack via directv.com and came up with the same error as the OP. That seemed very odd to me. After a day of fiddling, I called and used the automatic add capability with no issues. Up it came.
I still don't know why, but I'm not certain that I care.:)

huh?
