When a Dish drone rings my phone and says they're from Dish, the conversation goes:

ME: Why are you calling? Is there something wrong?

DRONE: No, we're just calling to thank you for being a Dish customer, and to ...

ME (interjecting): You're welcome. Have a nice day! (click)

Any way to get on a Dish no-call list?

They want to sell directly instead of through their retailers. They want to cut out the middleman and save some money.

Move to Pennsylvania. A "no call" list there for all soliciting.

Many states are passing these laws and the feds are as well. The only problem is that most of them allow any company with an exisitng business relationship with you to call you all they want.

Here in colorado, the "no-call" list and law actually works !
Used to average 8 a week, now hardly a call a week.

This news is good for the Harlington area though.
A sulver lining....

As with most no-call lists, Colorado's has an exception for businesses with which you already have a relationship.

Since I'm a Dish sub already, it's not illegal for Dish to call me and try to sell me more stuff. It is darned annoying, though. :)

Some customers will shut their service off too if they get annoyed too much or feel pressured or forced to add service. Heck, I have even heard of services being added that were not ordered. Isn't this a form of phone slamming in a sense only not pertaining to phone service but to satellite service? I guess it may not possibly be that since they are not switching companies automatically.

We've had E* since 1997, and I can count on one hand the number of times we've gotten sales calls, maybe one or two a year. I wonder if some of you aren't exaggerating the situation, or if you really are getting lots of sales calls, they you are not the typical situation.

Now we rented a house for awhile and the dish was hidden in the back yard and we got a call a week from D* for about two months, then all of the sudden they stopped calling. Well in all fairness it probably wasn't "D*" calling, probably some telemarketeer for a sat sales company claiming to be D*....
