The Federal Communications Commission delayed the Aug. 6 auction of non full-CONUS DBS licenses. No rescheduled date was given for the auction in the FCC order announcing the postponement.
The auction was delayed pending FCC resolution of issues tied to the August date. Specifically, in March, the FCC sought comment on its conclusion that the licenses up for auction are not subject to the auction prohibition of the ORBIT Act, and on whether it should adopt eligibility restrictions for any of the licenses.
The auction would have taken bids for DBS spectrum at four locations: 175 degrees, 166 degrees, 157 degrees, and 61.5 degrees.
