I pointed a sls5 last night just like I always have. I use a birdog 4.0 connected with a splitter. The antenna was pointed like I always do by peaking on 101, tilting 119 and dithering. When I got in the house the 99 was low and 103 was great. I repointed again and actually made it worse. Long story short my meter is suddenly not switching to 119swm. When I cover 119 with my hand it has no effect. The meter thinks it is on 101swm when 119swm is selected.

Any idea what might be configured wrong on my meter or is it faulty?

Thanks, Tom

There is no need to do any tilt adjustment over the recommended setting for your area.

Have you tried another splitter?

Just tried another splitter, same results. Any other usb v4 users out there have any thoughts?

Jeez, I just got this meter and am beginning to wonder if it ever worked as I beleive it did. Anyone have experience w a usb 4 connected with a splitter (not asl)? Should I actually be able to look at the 119 seperately?

I would try it with a 'legacy' 5LNB first.

Are you using the ultra?

No, it is not the ultra it is the latest usb version that is supposed to work without the asl. I can switch a multisat or sl5 just fine. So it works fine with legacy and I thought it was working with swm but I am wondering??? I never had cause to stick my hand in front of the lnb until I had a problem. If I had not set the skew incorrectly when I assembled the dish I might not have noticed the problem then. I just need to know if I need to send this back to p-10 or if I am doing something wrong.

I do it all the time with just a splitter and i've never had problems with it. I use the 2 separate screens for the 101, and the 119, not the combo screen and have never had any problems. But then, I just set the tilt when i assemble the dish and just blip it over to 119 to make sure something isn't jacked up that i didn't notice.

Guess the next time I do one i'll throw my hand over the 119 see what happens.

I'm confused - are you working with a SWM LNB or a standard 5LNB?

If you are trying to use a Birdog on a SWM - remember that the birdog will not power the SWM LNB for proper output measurements. Super Buddy meters WILL power a SWM system however.

You can test SWM with a Birdog if you test from a powered SWM multiswitch - just need a long AC extension cord to get you up the ladder.

Also - I'm thinking that your splitter might be passing either 13 or 18 vdc - but not both.

I will try to simplify my question. Has anyone with a usb v4 birdog connected to a sls5 via a splitter (not asl) when 119 is selected actually placed their hand over the 119 lnb and saw the signal disappear? If so then my meter is probably deffective.

Thanks, Tom

Call perfect10 @1-800-205-8620. They can probably also give you some answers. They can also give you the repair center # who can also be helpful.

Today I checked this out for you... Put my hand over the 119 LNB and it dropped off the map.
