View Full Version : Mythbusters Guide Data is wrong on my HR2x's

I'm showing that the guide data for Mythbusters episode "Car vs. Rain" was first aired on 5/27/2009 instead of showing as a new episode first airing tonight.

Consequently it isn't recording. :eek2:

The episode that aired on 5/27/2009 was actually “Thermite vs. Ice”.

If you have a Mythbusters SL and see this in time you better record the 12a.m. 6/18 re-airing.

It shows the same data on all my HR's.

OK thanks for the info. I never watch that showBut, whether or not you watch that show, have you or anyone else for that matter seen guide data so completely false.

We rely on the guide data to record our SLs. I have a big problem with PBS. Even when the guide data is correct for some reason it cancels the recording. :scratchin

Not to mention the whole Blues Clues fiasco.

Just checked and its not in the program guide for the next 14 days. :(

Nice to know that the Trib is living down to its usual rather pathetic standards. Isn't there another company that provides this info that D* could buy it from? Unless the folks at D* are total morons (which I wonder about from time to time), there has to be a performance clause in the contract that the data has to be correct on a consistent basis.

Oh, well, just set up a auto-record on keyword, hope I can get it recorded that way and watch it.

I'm guessing here but I would bet that the Guide Data is correct >99% of the time.

We record alot and rarely miss a show because of guide data (except for PBS but I gotta believe that has alot to do with PBS).

However, it got me to thinking, how many missed recordings were because of something as simple as the "First Aired" date?

It should be easy for a competent auditor to come up with a performance metric to monitor what kind of job the Trib is doing. If everyone would start calling D* every time there was an error, you can bet it would be dealt with.

If its right > 99% of the time, would seem that we record a lot of the other under 1% as we regularly go thru the "prioritizer" and fix it on at least a weekly basis.

I was under the impression that the "first aired date" had nothing to do with triggering recording of a SL program. I have asked about it before and was told that the Trib sets a flag in the guide data the indicates it is a new episode as opposed to a rerun. I know the "first aired date"s are wrong on a consistent basis on HGTV for new episodes, based on some shows my wife NEVER misses an episode of. :D

I noticed that MB did not record and next weeks data looks pretty sketchy as well.

I wish the stupid History section on teh HR20 would be of any use, but since the programmers at DirecTV evidently do not care if we are happily recording and watching shows, it showed nothing at all for Mythbusters.

I noticed this last night as well..luckily, it was 9:45pm. Mythbusters is on at midnight as well, so I recorded the new episode at midnight. The guide data for a lot of shows on my HR20 is missing or incorrect and this screws up my SLs. Is Tribune dropping the ball again? I wonder how many shows I have missed because the DVR didn't know to record and I didn't catch it in time.

I was wondering that myself. I completely rely on and put a lot of trust in the guide info. I tend to set it and forget it. I guess I'm going to have to keep a closer eye on things.

Has anyone contacted D* or Tribune about these issues? I've noticed guide data issues much more frequently the past several months.

Another guide data mishap:

I had scheduled to record "The O'Reilly Factor" at 4am central time this morning (Saturday) as my receiver was too busy to record it Friday night. It is labeled as "The O'Reilly Factor" but instead what aired was "Hannity".

I think this may need to go in a different forum, but while I don't care about the programming, I just saw this. On NBC the guide listed Today until 10, but Babar was on. I thought Today ended at 9 on Saturdays.

The mythbusters episode (car vs rain) originally shown on 6/17 with the hosed program guide info (and missed dvr recording) will be shown on 7/11/09. Was looking at episode data when I saw that there is a marathon of MB that day and for some reason my autorecord I had set up to grab this episode was not fired to record it. Now, I have it set manually to record.

Thought the others that missed this episode may want to see it, I heard from friends it was a good episode.
