I have an HR20 HD-DVR.

When a standard definition program is downloaded from the on-demand menus, upon playback, the image is strecthed to fill the width of my TV. I've tried changing the screen format on the receiver, the screen format on the TV, nothing works. It is always stretched, and is annoying.

Is this a known issue?

Iknow that stars does a widescreen format in SD is that what you are downloading?
How about the SD programing on another (NON) VOD channel does that stay in pillar box format?

Okay, I figured out what is happening. On my HR20, if you are watching an HD channel and then start up a SD DoD download then the picture will be forced into the stretch mode and the aspect ratio function/button will not fix it. If you are tuned to a SD channel when you start the DoD file, everything works as it should.

I can confirm this as well. Just did what you said and the DOD went from stretched to normal.

Media Share occasionally does the same thing with SD videos. Possibly it is related.

Give us a specific program that you downloaded so we can check.
