A release schedule has reared it's head which would seem to indicate Microsoft's high confidence in Windows 7.
A key milestone in any Microsoft software development is the "Gold Code". When the code goes "Gold" it is fully cooked. There will be no more changes.
The schedule for Windows 7 Gold Code is somewhere between July 7 and 10th.
The only event after that is the official "sign-off", now scheduled for July 13th.
This will not effect the official release date of October 22nd, but the PC makers will probably get a little extra time to customize their installs.
