My friend recently switched from Dish to DTV. His old tv is not controllable by remote. Manual ONLY. His cable box and then dish had the ability to control volume internally and had an external power to turn on/off the tv. He is a real stickler for old things and i cant convince him to just get a better tv. I have to admit his old 36 inch Oak console is nice for what it is. Its REALLY old and he bought it new. Has great picture for rf cable.

He is looking for any Dtv receiver that has built in volume control. Switched power socket would be awesome to but its not necessary. Is any such beast out there? He doesnt care how old or slow or low featured it is, as long as it has rf output.

Thanks

As far as I know, there are no DirecTv receivers that do what you (he) wants.

I can guarantee the HR20 doesn't have internal volume control. Next TV I get will have, tho. Switching from NBC to WGN almost will blow out the windows at my house. And the commercials from D*, nuf said! I've seen I don't know how many posts on that one.

Looks like DirecTV is finally addressing their commercials volume problem ....
