I've seen Dish advertise for 2 receivers hooking to four rooms but what if you need an additional room?

What a friend of mine is wanting is an HD DVR for the living room, an HD dual tuner receiver for the family room to share with a bedroom. Then they want a DVR (doesn't have to be HD) for the upstairs bedroom.

They have cable now but are tired of their high rates and poor picture quality plus they charge outrageous amounts for equipment.

What they want to do is a duo-TV HDDVR for the living room and upstairs bedroom, then a duo-TV HD receiver for the family room/other bedroom. Both free under the current lease promotion.

otherwise they get a free solo-TV HDDVR, a duo-TV HD receiver for free and pay $399 for a SD-DVR if they want two DVRs.

They'll probably pay for the extra receiver because they don't want to watch one show and record on the 2nd tuner tying it up so the kids can't watch another show. Dual tuners are a good idea accept when it comes to the recording.

Dish has a lease limit of 4 TV outputs, and dual-output receivers count as "2" towards the limit of 4 even if you decide to use that receiver in single mode. Receivers beyond the lease limit must be purchased.

Why would anyone pay Dish $399 for a SDDVR when online dealers sell them for $229
