View Full Version : Is It possible ???
I like to have two LCD tv side by side using VIP612 DVR. One tv attached with HDMI and other one with component wires. Is it possible if both the LCD tv can have audio by using any kind of wires(spliters ect.) . It looks like this dvr has only one audio outlet. Thanks !

HDMI should pass audio... so you technically have 2 ways of digital audio output (HDMI and TOSLink) as long as one of your devices is HDMI capable, which it sounds like it is.

In addition, you have analog audio output via the L and R RCA jacks as well as audio via the (ugh!) RF output.

I would like to add that you can have success doing it. I have a VIP211K with one HDMI port. I have a 40" Samsung LCD and a 22" Sanyo LCD. The Samsung is in the family room, the Sanyo is in the dining room. I tried this...HDMI splitter from the VIP211K with a 3' HDMI cable to the Samsung, and a 15' HDMI to the Sanyo tv. I had to view on the Sanyo what was on the 40" Samsung. My problem came when I turned off the 22" tv in the dining room, it also turned off the 40" LCD in the family room. I didn't want to go the powered HDMi splitter route, so I ran 5 cables... three Component RGB, and two red and white cables to the 22" tv, and it works very well.

Isn't the 612 a single output, meaning that you will have to view the same thing on both TVs? Why would you want to do that with 2 TVs side by side?

Thanks every one. Sorry I didn't mention one of my tv is plasma. I simply said two LCD.Make it more easy to understand. LESS CONFUSION. Some time when it is hot day I hate using plasma instead I prefer a bit smaller LCD tv. Thats why.
HDMI gonna give me both audio and picture ??? Is that right ??

Yes, HDMI should give you audio and video for that HDTV connection.
For the other HDTV, you can use the digital optical output OR as someone else suggested, you have the 2-channel analog stereo output if your other TV doesn't have an optical input for audio.
