Why all the haters on religious channels? I personally don't care for them but many do.

1) LOTS of SD bandwidth is getting freed up with the MPEG2 HD shutdown allowing them to add channels like this. Plus they take up very little bandwidth.
2) As mentioned in the Hope Channel thread that got closed, DirecTV does have an FCC obligation to carry X% of channels in the "public interest" so channels like this must be added to fulfill their commitment.

Plus it's better then another shopping channel. ;)

Anyway, congrats to those who find this channel interesting.

I stumbled on this last night. Very interesting. I don't watch any of the religious channels but this one is more like watching a NYC public access channel than EWTN or TBN. At least it's different and unique. ;)

I have a Slimline III and do no tget it... If they add new channels will they upgrade me to the Slimline V for free?

Excellent question. Perhaps they will move it to 101 at some point or get you a full 5lnb. Interesting.

Perhaps you could call up and express interest in the channel and dismay that your system doesn't get it, they might hook you up.

It's important for DIRECTV to appeal to all demographics of its customer base, so congratulations to DIRECTV for expanding its channel selection!

I'll bet they would. Back in the day when Nasa was on 119 they would upgrade you to a Phase III dish for free if you stated you wanted that channel. Probably the same now. Hope channel was also added to 119. Once they finally get the rest of the MPEG2 HD shutdown I'd have to think they would move these over to 101 since they are installing the Slimline 3 which can't see 119.

I don't understand the logic of DirecTv. It adds a Jewish channel, and puts in on the Spanish language orbital slot--119-- that most Jews wouldn't have upgraded to? It makes no sense. Is the market Spanish speaking Jews exclusively, or Jews who were happy to ditch cable and get an 18 inch dish aimed at the only slot that matters- 101? And JLTV has a press release celebrating its national coverage and channel number without having the decency and wisdom of mentioning that it's not on the main dish! It's like a conspiracy in stupity and denial. Let's confuse people. If someone can explain this dumb move by Directv I would appreciate it.
