If you want to watch HDCP-protected movies over HDMI, there is NO way around this problem; that's the whole point of the copy-protection.

If the TV doesn't support it, there's no way to use HDMI to get around it.

Okay? But it does not allow you to connect and watch protected content thru a HDMI connection if the TV does not support HDCP, which was the OP's ?.

If the set does not support HDCP, then you can't watch it, or you can switch to component cables.

make sure you raise heck with your tv manufacturer for releasing a tv who's HDMI input is not HDCP compliant as well. There is absolutely no excuse for it. One question though. Does it go through an intermediary like an AV receiver or HTiB with HDMI on it, cos it could be that device is actually the one at fault here?

No AV reciever or HTiB with HDMI. Its just a reg HDMI 1.1 (I think) to the TV...do manufactures have software that you can download to the TV? Like through USB?

Only works for analog signals. This will not remove HDCP from a digital signal.

SOrry been busy but its a Sammy LN-T3242H...Could it be the box? Its only a couple years old.

That model is HDCP compliant, plus I would expect any TV from 2007 to be comkpliant

I'd try the TV with other HD sources connected to the HDMI port and see if they have trouble as well. If they don't have trouble, either your receiver's port is not functioning properly or DIRECTV hasn't customized the receiver enough to deal with Samsung's screwy HDMI implementation.

I have a PS3 and no problems with that. I think it might be the receiver...should I call and get a replacement?

Are you trying to watch 1080P VOD on that set? I wouldnt think you would get that issue for anything but the 1080P stuff...

No, I am not plus when I play Blu-ray movies I don't get that issue. I know I don't have a 1080p TV but the blu-ray picture still looks good :)
