Hope I'm asking this question in the right location: Moving into a new house in which the builder ran RG6 coax (single run) to all rooms from a box on the outside of house (south side). Would like to connect two HD capable TVs in two separate rooms and maximize HD content to each. First TV to be driven by a DVR with ability to record one show while watching another. Second TV driven by just a HD receiver with the possibility of adding second DVR at a later time. Can this be done using the existing single coax runs (without having to run additional coax)? Also what programming pkg would you recommend? I'm a long time DTV subscriber and very unfamiliar with Dish pkgs.
Thks in advance for all help and advice,

Yes, the cabling will be sufficient with the tech Dish has. You'll probably get a vip612 HDDVR and a vip211 HD receiver that can be made a DVR later with an external HDD and a $40 one-time fee.
As to programming, what channels can you not live without? The Turbo HD packages are missing some HD channels due to contract limitations (supposedly).

Coldsteel, thks for the quick reply and info. I was told by D* people that they had the technology to use single coax run (called SWM tech) so I scheduled a move install but when tech showed up to do the install he said he couldn't do a SWM unless I could get D* to authorize a SWM installation. After an hour and a half on the phone, two disconnects and numerous transfers I got a supervisor who told me that D* wasn't doing SWM installs at any house anywhere and, when I questioned him about that he said that I could either get the install done and allow the tech to punch holes in my new walls to run additional coax or cancel the installation. Now this is really strange since I can see at least two D* installs on my block (all new houses) that appear to be SWMline installs.
In any case, this is not meant to question the info that you provided, but just to provide background as to why I am a little skeptical about what they (D* and E*) "say" they can do and what they will do.

No problems. Dish uses certain tech to allow single cable runs that support two satellite-in feeds and one TV2 output (which you won't need) using separators and diplexers.
No clue why they won't do SWM for DirecTV. Maybe it's a cost issue?

As you say, probably cost. But then they wanted extra $$ ($50 I believe it was) to run 2nd coax. Anyhow, I'm probably cutting off my nose to spite my face but, when the technology is there, what sense is there in running new cables and punching holes in places that are unnecessary?
Thanks again,

Agreed. So, what programming are you looking at?

Well, probably the Classic Gold 250 plus HDgold and locals (Orlando, Fl). I'd go with just the TurboHDgold but I am a bit addicted to Fox News Channel:). There are also a couple of other channels (DIY and History International) that I occasionally like to watch and I believe they require the Gold 250. Don't subscribe to any of the Premiums.

DirecTV's ordering system determines whether or not you qualify for a SWM LNB installation, and generally CSRs have ZERO ability to override the system, which was put in place to enforce DirecTV's various business rules.
The issue for you is that SWM LNB installs require 5-8 tuners, and your order only calls for 3 (1 DVR and 1 receiver). For that install, if you want a SWM LNB installed, you'll need to purchase the kit on your own (your installer would probably be happy to install it for you, though).

Cool to know, BZ, thanks!
