We well know that DISH has 3 informercial channels called Beauty and Fashion, Healthy Living Channel, and Mens Channel.

Does anyone know who operates these channels? (on a TBFC bumper, it had a copyright message by "Turner Group inc." which I believe has no relation to the AOLTW Turner.)

I am especially wondering if those knock-off shopping channels (Direct Shopping, GemAuctionTV) are available over standard C-Band?

Do you really watch that ____ ? I thought that was just wasted transponder space that DISH got paid for providing.

Well not a lot. MENS has that Smokey Mountain show on some nights, and some of the knives on there are just beautiful.

BTW, I am just asking. :)

Yeah, DISH uses the shopping channels to help lower your monthly bill.

All I want is just a (not so) simple answer. :)

Dish 'says' they are on to lower the monthly programming bill BUT do you see DirecTv with this many shopping channels? Since I dont have DirecTv I would not know but I dont think they have as many and their programming does not run higher, if anything it is cheaper in some cases. The only thing is that they do not have the cheap package select choice like they used to in which compares to AT50. I think they just add the channels to increase profit. Its just more money in the wallets. Same thing as leasing satellite space, the shopping channel operators are just another customer, just in a different sense. Also reminds me when they charged for other services for business channels.

Directv doesn't have as many shopping channels, though with their announcement last week regarding them they're inching closer to Dish. I really don't care about them, as long as they keep them on the same TP so that they don't suck up any bandwidth on legitimate channels.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Dish is a business, and that's what businesses do -- maximize revenues and minimize costs wherever possible.

And they are quickly approaching my limit. If they need 20 more shopping channels to hold down costs, bring em on. And this coming from a die hard PQ/HD fanatic. (Just cheap, I guess).

I agree, whether they had those channels or not would not have affected the price on programming that much if they see that higher costs would have hurt business. Its based on supply and demand.

Yet another question, this time about HLC (223). Lately, they have been showing an Off Air message in the program guide just like channels 221 and 225 when there is a BTV event going on. It happens usually in the afternoon and lasts about 2 hours. Is HLC another BTV channel?

You have to have windows media player to watch this. I found it quite entertaining. Guy on one of the knock off home shopping channels talking about a dream he had.
