Please excuse my newbie ignorance, but I have been confused with all these information about upcoming satellites, SuperDish, and 921.

I have been wanting to switch to Dish from Cox digital cable. I heard that you can soon (if not already) receive regular Dish along with international channels using one dish, so I have been waiting for this to happen. Then, I read about the SuperDish on this forum to get HDTV programming. Let's not even mention when will the 921 ever arrive.

I was waiting as I thought you can get better deals on equipment when you're a new subscriber as opposed to being an existing subscriber and having to upgrade. As it doesn't appear anything is happening soon, I was wondering if I should continue to wait or go ahead and subscribe. If I went ahead, I would appreciate any suggestion on what equipment to get in order to get International channels along with HDTV programming. Thanks!

You need to keep waiting, DISH has it's international channels on either 61.5 or 148 so you will need two dishes. This will not change in the near future.

If you get locals on wing satellites, you'll get this dish for free, though if you really want the 921, I'd still wait around until that becomes available, or you can go with the HD Tivo which is due out late 2003.

The HD Tivo won't get you much international though. Another D* sales pitch?

The SuperDish is SuperHype right now. The SuperDish will be able to see 105, 110, 119 and 121 someday, but is useless right now because there are no satellites at 105 and 121 that are visible to SuperDish. 121 is awaiting launch, and maybe some day they will move a satellite to 105. It will probably be 4-6 months before superdish becomes usable.

Rumor now has it the HD Tivo is due out by the end of Summer.
