View Full Version : Can I 'find' 110 and 119 with a Direct TV dish, for signal strength testing?

I have a shoot right now that's through trees, and the signal is at the critical level in GOOD weather.

I think I found a new 'hole' amidst the mighty oaks on my lot and the neighbor's lot, and I want to test for signal strength for both satellites WITHOUT moving the DishNW dish that's on the roof now (the 'hole' is from the ground)

I have a old Direct TV dish/single LNB, and a length of line to run to the receiver, and want to know if I can use the dish to test for 110 and then 119 at this spot ...

Anybody?

Depending on your current setup, the may not work until you clear the matrix (run check switch without any connection to the receiver's input). If it is an older Direct lnb it may work but the type of dish and arm length will change where you need to look for the signal. If you can get a signal with this dish, the other dish may not work in the exact same spot.

The Directv dish should work the same as a Legacy dish 300. If you mount it then find 110, with out moving the mounting pole you should be able to lower elevation and rotate to the west and pick up 119. Good luck.

Thanks... This is exactly how I was thinking, except for the LNB function, and check switch reset...
