The thread with the list of local markets without HD locals doesnt list any estimated time for Wichita locals, so Am I to assume that it will be a while??
Is it true that DirectTV has the Wichita locals in HD?? If this is true than whats the holdup with Dish?

Probably lack of a place to put 'em. I was told by an installer about a year ago that HD locals for the Wichita market would go on 129, but I don't find a spotbeam that would cover the entire market area. Hopefully it'll happen fairly soon. And yes, DirecTV does have Wichita locals in HD.

well thats disappointing, Its pretty messed up that Dish keeps getting Hd locals to tiny markets and the Wichita, which is actually more like most if not all of western Kansas, area is still lacking is pretty unsat if you ask me.
Miami, Ok is not getting locals from D* anytime soon but E* has them in HD. Its all good. At least we have OTA as an option.

Im 5 hours from Wichita. I dont know where the nearest station thats broadcasting in HD is, but id be willing to bet its at least 50 miles away. I don't think OTA is an option, but Ive thought about hooking up an antenna just to see if I could get anything.

50 miles aint that bad. If you want to know for sure then go to www.tvfool.com and it will tell you how far away the towers are from you. I am gonna fuess from 50 miles away though you would need a large directional antenna to get them. There are antenna's that rate 100 miles for VHF and 60 miles for UHF. That would cover you.

I've been asking Dish for a year about when they are going to get the Wichita locals in HD and cannot get an answer. Even emailed the CEO once. Didn't even get a response. Just asked in a Live Chat tonight and all they could tell me was that it wasn't on the schedule through September. Wichita is the 51st market. This is really POOR. Direct TV has had the Wichita locals for nearly a year.
BTW also couldn't find anything out about the DVR-922 which I would love to buy.

DaleThis is the story of our lives for both companies. Where I live E* has had locals here for some time now but D* has no plans in the near future to carry my locals. I am much further down the list though. I think my DMA is like #148 or 151 or something like that. I think the SHVERA act being reautorized will help us all with locals more then anything else. It is my understanding that Congress wants all DMA's to be offered their locals.
Since that is probably not going to happen I sure hope they come up with another solution that will work for us. Anything is better then nothing. Im not picky. I will take DNS feeds for all that I care. A FOX affiliate is a FOX affiliate to me. Same as all the rest of them. As long as I get them no complaints here.

A bit late, but If this is true that if a disappointment. It is unacceptable to not have HD locals by September. It is also unacceptable that it seems the other providers have the HD channels and Dish doesn't seem to care and doesn't seem to plan to give us the channels anytime soon. I'm really missing my shows in HD and I pretty much cant watch football in SD anymore. couple this issue with the serious rain fade issue Ive been having and I'm very disappointed with my service up to this point. Supposedly my local cable company is getting digital, HD and DVRs sometime in august, very small independent, If their service is anywhere close to what I have now I will seriously consider canceling my dish paying the penalty and switching back to cable. If Dish doesn't get on it soon their working really hard on loosing a customer forever.
