View Full Version : Which is cheaper: Premier or each Premium pkg individually??
I could care less about the sports package that is included in the Premier package. Just curious as to if it's cheaper (since HD Access and DVR service is included in the Plus HD DVR package) to subscribe to all the premium movie channel individually.

Plus HD-DVR package:$75.99
HBO-$14.99
Starz:$11
Showtime:10
Cinimax-$8
$119.98
The Premier Package
$109.99
HD fee-$10
DVR Fee-$6
$125.99
So you would save about $6.

You left out the RSNs you get in the Sports Pack. The sports pack is about $12.99 (I think). Add that it and the Premier is slightly cheaper

The OP said he is not interested in the RSNs.

You are correct. I did not read close enough.

If you order all the movie packs and the sports pack don't they automatically put you in the premier pack?
I know the OP doesn't want sports, but I was just asking......

I know the OP doesn't want sports, but I was just asking......That's what I thought was the "rule". I like YES, but I really don't care about all the RSN's and could do without that one channel.
If they push you into the Premier package like dodge boy says (and like I seem to remember they do), then there's no way to save that $6. Oh well.

I recall that they push you into whatever combination yields the lesser total cost. With the yearly price changes, that combination has shifted from what it was in the past.

I did exactly what the OP is talking about. I dropped down from Premiere to the next lowest package with all the premiums, except the sports pack. It saved me 6 dollars a month.
I don't miss the RSNs at all. The only time I would want to watch out of market RSNs is when the will black it out.

With the current promo the HD+DVR is $54.99 for year so that is a savings. I did this and had the premiums for 3 months. When they ran out I called back and got Showtime for $.01 and Starz free for 6 months. In total I pay 49.99 (got the promo before the slight price change) plus $25 for the Premiums so that puts me at 75.00 plus my taxes. I think its closer to $14 savings. I dont care for sports either. Only watch the Marlins on the Sunshine network. More of a movieman myself.

after taxes and fees collected by the state I saved approx $15 (3 dvr's) by NOT using premier and doing the 3 movie channels and hd pack separately. this was about 8 months ago when I did it so things might have changed.

thats because you lost 1 movie channel(HBO,MAX, Starz,SHO = 4 channels) and the sports pack.
