Saw this on ebay and was curious if and how well they work.

http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=139735RobertE, that seems to be a build-your-own thread, whereas the OP I think is asking can the 3-LNB assembly from a Phase III dish (for example) simply be swapped out for the LNB assembly being auctioned from eBay.

The seller says it will get 101°, 103° and 99° and positions it as being able to get HD, but will this really work if the buyer only has a Phase III and legacy receivers? Forget the legacy receiver issue, would it even work on a Phase III with the dish shape by simply swapping LNB assemblies? The modified dish extended the arm length, this one would be using the original arm length.

While the beginning of the thread that RobertE linked was about matt's custom round dish, it moves very quickly into slapping an sl3 lnb onto a standard Phase3 dish. Consensus is that it works, but is quite difficult to aim properly.

Did anyone notice the last picture in the ebay listing? It has a watermark of a DirecTV copyright logo and the words, "courtesy DBSTalk", but the "B" and "Talk" are whited out.

The idea is to use it as more of a temporary(camping, tailgating) setup. Not recommended for a permanent setup.

Simple answer. No it can not be simply swapped out. They are keyed different. Different for a reason. Thus one needs to do some modification to the LNB and/or the LNB arm to get it to even begin to work.
