View Full Version : Multiplexing both Dish and Directv signals?

I currently have Dish and I am thinking about adding Directv. My problem is that I only have one coax feed to each room. Currently, those rooms are connected directly to the Dish multiswitch.

If I add Directv to the mix, is it possible to install a splitter so that I can multiplex the satellite stream from both Dish and Directv to each room, and just let each perspective receiver decode the signal? This is assuming Directv installs a multiswitch as well and the signal is multiplexed after it leaves the both multiswitches.

If not, what's the best way without running additional coax drops?

Thanks.

No, there's no way to combine Dish and DirecTV satellite signals onto the same coax cable.

Not possible.

Both DISH and Directv use frequencies between 950 and 1450 mhz plus other frequencies and they would interfere with each others signals. You can use DISH or Directv or you can use separate coax lines but you can't use both on the same lines.

SWM and DPP technologies appear they will work.APPEAR, not to be tried by a novice.

What was I thinking, Duh, long day. Swim and Qam will work depending on the Qam frequencies, but if you have a Qam distribution, you are in an MDU and get a good price for the service already.
