how do you make sure you get into the game? Last week, I was on but could not join any races. I ended up just racing against random folks and was a bit bummed.

Try to get there before 9:30 EDT and you should be okay. If you try to join during a set (sets are 4 races) it will probably give you an error; you'd have to hit it just right to get into the mix in between sets. So... get there early and wait with the rest of us while smiddy says "I'm number 1!" and Milkman says "I'm using my Wii Wheel!" over and over again. :lol:

I'll get you into my list, I hosed it up, since I didn't think I was going to make it and at the last minute I did. I had a mind lapse that I needed to add you. I will add you this evening to make certain.

Ah man, that was a blast, I won the first three races, therefore no one could beat me so I could kamikazi it...that was fun! If I win the first threee again...watch out! :)

I was there early, but only had 1 friend (i'm such a loser...hehe). But that friend was always in games, didn't know where I needed to wait for the next race or anything. Guess the person 'hosting' sets up a room and you wait in the room?

I got you in on both mine and my son's now. I was on earlier today too but I didn't see your Mii yet, I still see a question mark. I'm going to try againthis evening. I am trying to do better on the tournement.

We were on at 9:30 to 10:30 eastern (8:30 to 9:30 central; 7:30 to 8:30 mountain; 6:30 to 7:30 pacific)...we had 9 folks racing. I wonder if you were having network problems?

I will try sending you a ghost race to see if you can get it.

That's weird. I can see your Mii. I sent you two ghosts races tonight, maybe that will help. when I went through all the courses, i did not see a ghost of yours.

Getting three stars is tough work. You need to come in first every lap, finish first (duh...) and use more specials against others then you get against you. If you do too well, then the first place shells start coming out...

I haven't gone back to see how many I've got to do over to get all three stars. You start using manual yet?

Automatic is much easier than manual. You get the little speed boost with manual, but you have to be spot on. It's easy to drift yourself off of the track if you aren't familiar with how your particular car handles. With automatic, you just turn the wheel. It became a completely different game when I started using manual. much harder.

Manual is fine when you get used to it, really. I have a lot of trouble when I accidentally select automatic now, drifting off the track like you describe. :lol:

Nope, I'm still using automatic and I'm getting better an better. I need to take the time to figure out manual though since it would help out in a lot of races.

ditto, same here. Still on auto. Told myself I'd start using manual on ghost races and such to get used to it. Old fart = set-in-ways.

Youngest son is 50-50 auto/manual, oldest son is all manual (I still beat him regularly though :hurah: ) and his girlfriend is auto. We have a mash-up time. Boy when you set the AI to hard with agressive specials, its noticably tougher. I only come in first by 20 seconds or so... :grin:

Got my butt whooped on the first Moonview Highway. Messed up on the FIRST corner and it went downhill from there. I took care of business after that though! :D

My best victory was when we were doing DS Peach Garden's. You grabbed the lead for all the second lap and most of the third. Then on the last 100yrds I first place shell you! I laughed sooooo hard.....

I noticed you're now using my favorite combo, Rosalina and the Flamerunner...

Yeah, that was a tough loss...it seems if one of us is way out in front there's no hope of turning it around with just the two of us.

I like that combo, but I've been experimenting with a few others. I'm sorry that I can not make tomorrow night since I beleive it will be a very fun match. Colton may join in my absence, but I don't know that he knows how to start a room yet.

Actually the first few races the blue shells did get in my way. That's how you won the first Sherbet race :p . The key to that race is the first turn of the first lap. If you can get thru that first turn clean you have a pretty good chance.

I feel your pain actually. I had a terrible race last weekend. If Alsbrook and Smiddy were their it would have been a bit tougher, they can certainly hold their own. Tom kept things interesting as well last night.
